Hendersonville NC Weather

Fall is here. The pumpkins were out in Fletcher near the library, beautifully displayed. They had so many kinds, colors and shapes. It was really fun to walk through all of the rows. I am thinking I need to grow some of these beauties.

Getting ready for the pies and pumpkin faces on the porch. And all the trick and treaters looking for goodies.

The leaves are turning pretty colors and falling fast. If you don’t want to miss the colors, make plans to get here in the next few weeks.

Hendersonville NC Weather

The sun has finally returned!! We have had two days of sunshine and the ground is slowly starting to dry out.

The strawberriesThe strawberries are doing great, as are all of the other plants that went into my yard this summer. What a relief.

The flooding around here remained in the west Asheville and Brevard areas, and Hendersonville was saved from any major damage as far as I have heard.

Still calling for rain the rest of the week, but maybe they are wrong.

Here is the weather link for this area if you are planning on coming this way from out of town.

Happy travels

Hendersonville NC Weather

This summer has been the wettest summer I have ever spent anywhere, including the summer I lived in Oregon. It is especially amazing concidering the previous 3 years we were in a drought. And last year it was so bad that we were on water restrictions for a long time.

Asparagus Strawberries Blueberry Rhubarb

I can't hardly complain, since I just moved into town from Bat Cave and spent most of the summer planting an edible landscape. My yard is growing with 100 strawberry plants, 60 asparagus plants, rhubarb and red raspberries. I even planted 4 cherry trees and 2 paw paw trees. I hope that the rain we have been getting the last week isn't going to rot the roots of all of these plants. They have been doing so well. And I have blueberry plants on the way soon that will need to get in the ground.

Cherry red raspberry

Maybe I will have to plant those blueberry plants in pots for the winter.

Maybe we should be building another arc Arc

here in the south. That is how much rain we are getting. Flood warnings for days. But I can't complain. At least I am still above water. Not so for many other areas. Rain

Is this an indication of what winter has in store? Guess I better load up on the wood for the heater.

Hope you are keeping dry wherever you are.

Hendersonville-Opoly

Hendersonville has one Charter School, The Mountain Community School, located at 613 Glover Street, near Jackson Park. I was reading about them in the Hendersonville Times News yesterday and saw that they are raising money for a gym in a really fun way.

Charter schools only receive money from the state per pupil, but no funds are given for buildings. The school wants to build a gym for their sporting events, so they have created a board game based on the monopoly game in order to raise some money for it. They invited local business to join in as squares on the board, and the local bank Mountain First has the spot for their image on the cash.

They have printed up 500 games and will be selling them at the Apple Festival this year for a $19.95 donation. Come show your support for kids with creativity and an entrepreneur spirit. The Apple Festival will be held during the first weekend of September, from the 4th to the 6th and this is a free event.
