This is great news from Minnesota Department of Transportation.
New Anoka County Road 14 bridge over Highway 65 opens Friday, Aug. 29 in Blaine 121st Ave./Paul Parkway, 129th Ave. close for overpass construction
ROSEVILLE, Minn. - The new Anoka County Road 14 bridge over Highway 65 in Blaine is scheduled to open early afternoon on Friday, Aug. 29. County Road 14 has been closed since March 31 for construction of a bridge and interchange at Highway 65. The single-point diamond interchange brings all traffic to a single traffic signal in the middle of the bridge. At the same time, the intersections of 121st Avenue/Paul Parkway at Highway 65 and 129th Avenue at Highway 65 will close permanently for construction of new overpasses. Traffic will detour on 117th Avenue, County Road 14 or 131st Avenue to reach homes and local businesses. The entire project to rebuild the interchange of Highway 65 and Anoka County Road 14, along with new overpasses at 121st Avenue/Paul Parkway and 129th Avenue began in spring 2007 and will be completed by fall 2009. Additional information about the construction is available at: Highway 65 Web site

This week was a rematch with Horizon Silver and Troy let me know they were looking to beat us. We were off to our typical slow start and trailed in the game until we scored 5 in the bottom of the 4th to take a 9-5 lead. We mixed up the line up a little, having Steve Stelly start at pitcher and Adam Kirshner out in right center. Horizon used a 5th infielder the entire game although, that never really seemed to pay off with any outs. Scott had his signature triple and I had my first home run of the year (in the park). Pete has gone back to hitting from the right side and had a good night at the plate. Our defense was a little shaky so we need to clean that up by this weekends state tourney. We ended up winning 12-11 with the tieing run on first base. That puts us at 10-1, still 1/2 game behind Cross of Christ and tied with Epiphany. Friday night game against Total Chaos will determine how we end up in the standings.

We'll take it! This game was 0-0 after 4, I guess we just need to play from behind. CR United Methodist scored 1 in the 5th. We came back with 3 runs in the bottom but, gave up 3 runs in the 6th. Four more runs in the 6th were enough for us as we turned a double play to end the game. Someone commented the sign of a good team is winning when you don't play well. I guess we have proven that the past 2 weeks. Big game next week against Epiphany, who is only a half game behind us in the standings. If we can win that game we will have a 2 game edge on the league. We'll need to hit better than we did tonight though...

Well, Family of Christ Blue gave us a run for the money. They started with 3 runs in the first and shut us out. After 3 we had come back to have a 7-3 lead, thanks to Pete's unassisted double play. The hit was between him and Steve, Pete fielded the ball, tagged the runner, then sprinted and dove into first glove first for the force! You should see that one on sports center tonight. We fell behing 8-7 and trailed 14-11 going into the bottom of the 6th. Nothing fancy but we hit and ran station to station and scored 10 runs. I have termed this a "Constance inning!", any time we score more than 7 runs in an inning. Jim and Scott each had a triple for our big hits on the night. Over all not our best performance but, we never gave up and kept fighting for another win. Half way through the season we are 6-0 and looking good. Here is a link to the standings.
