Emergency Alert System now available The St. Tammany Parish Public School System has implemented a new unified emergency notification system to send instant alerts to parents and employees. The system will be used in the event of emergencies. Several communication methods are available- even a text message. Click here to sign up.
When you sign up, you will be able to choose the specific school from which you want to receive alerts. There is also a newsletter sign up available. Currently, the newsletter is addressing the Flu concerns. The rss feed can be found on my website under the link Monteleone Jr & Lakeshore High News Alerts.
During emergancy situations, the rumor mill is very active. These new systems are good ways to stay informed with accurate information directly from the school board.

2009 NOCCA College Fair
A college fair is a great opportunity for high school students. The student is able to speak directly to a representative from the school. The faculty at NOCCA have made it possible for students in our region to hear from some great institutions around the country.

School resumed in St. Tammany for public school children on Aug 7. Way to early in my humble opinion!
I have come to expect a stackful of homework for me on the first day of school. Emergency contact cards, letters from the teachers, PTA forms etc. Then came the check writing. $5, $3, $10, ~ lots of checks in various amounts for separate items. I completed the stack for my son's school. Ready for part two.
Lakeshore High did it again! So many positive surprises with them. They are participating in a pilot online payment program. Woohoo. I was able to go to the schools website, click the online payment button and quickly pay all of the fees. No more lost checks for lunch money.
If the program is sucessful, more schools will participate next year. I hope it is a great sucess. I am a fan.
