200 Grapefruits divided by 5

Hello guys,

Before, Lenn Harley, Real Estate Broker from Virginia & Maryland asked; where do we spend our marketing dollars? I did not get to pitch in.

The best electronic sound equipment is found on those companies that combined old technologies with the new ones i.e. vacuum tubes, resistors, wood and metal. I have travel many miles since I was drafted in to the ARMY out of Puerto Rico, and I learned plenty from other countries as I did. Some things I kept others I left behind. Over and over again it amasses me how we often discard old for new without giving it much though.

I spend my money on the streets knocking on doors, and like Bill Clinton, meeting people, holding their babies and padding down their dogs. Granted I do have my website, signs, car magnets, and business cards, I even write once in a while on Active Rain but, there is no greater ROI anywhere else than in a relation.

When was the last time you bought 200 grapefruits, split them in groups of five, and delivered them to your past and present clients?

In our world today, many professionals wonder if they could actually increase their business by becoming what they are not - positive thinkers. Plenty have developed an act of positive ways and have made an exhausting way of living by avoiding others and avoiding issues that, according to their skills, are of a negative nature.

In the past few years, this new trend has been supported by many individuals with a Ph.D.'s that publish printed articles and books on how to avoid negative thinkers, issues, and situations. Presently, thanks to often confused Ph.D.'s, people are no longer called negative thinkers. Now, they are branded as "toxic" people, with "toxic" issues and "toxic" situations. Imagine how you would feel if one of your friends cut you off because, according to their perception, you are a "toxic" person. That is all we need now - a new reason to hate each other.

One of my past CEO's was a fan of positive thinking people and people not having a positive thinking attitude was his pet peeve. According to him, his positiveness was the reason for the company doing well and I assure you there is some credit to that. However, if you didn't have a portray a positive attitude he would just cut you off, i.e. no business leads for you, informed you about meetings and deadlines a few minutes before or not at all, marketed your ideas through other members of the company, called your new clients and shared with them his thoughts about you being negative. This went on until you perfected the "act" or you left the company. After eighteen months in power and not knowing any better, this guy found himself surrounded by people that did not truly wish him well - many within his level of management. His kids were always sick, his family fell apart, and eventually he was laid off. I have to admit he left with a high chin saying that better things were coming his way.

Our COO was a very different person. He was loyal to the CEO, a teacher, a trusted friend, an intelligent and smart leader, the reason why many of us hung in there. During hard times, he would tell us "Do your jobs, do them correctly and promptly, and, when you think about doing wrong out of spike, remember and think that someone is watching. Stay far away from wrong and let your good intentions flow and grow and everything will be alright."

Confused? You shouldn't be.

There is a great difference between the power of intention and the act of positive thinking yet one action follows the other very closely. In reality, the only way you can avoid "toxic" people, "toxic" issues, and "toxic" situations, is by becoming a one person company hiding in a high mountain away from reality.

I learned about the power of intention from my grandfather way back in the early sixties. I also learned that one of the ways to live a prosperous and balanced life is by confronting negative nature and turning it into a positive. Don't just act positive, become it - become it through wisdom, being just and being good intended toward all others and all situations, both visible and invisible. Being negative should not always be considered "toxic". After all, is it a positive action to brand a person and therefore place them in a corner away from your life instead of educating them on how to turn a negative into a positive?

While it is easy to claim that a home is a green home, not every home is an energy efficient Green Home.

Green homes are not homes that neither are green in color nor are they homes inside a large, tall tree. Green Homes are, by the web definition: A home that uses less energy, water, natural resources, create less waste and is healthier for the people living inside.

Our definition is a bit wider and it is: A home is considered green when it incorporates smart design with advantageous technology that encompasses most, if not all, the construction and maintenance elements that significantly lessen the negative impact on the environment and that adapts to the environment making it safer and healthier. This is how a green home is built.

The wave of our very near future is Green Homes, a future that is supported by the Federal and State lawmakers and our current market conditions. Our current administration is expected to continue offering more incentives for buyers who purchase green homes and, within a few years, we may begin to see a requirement that new and existing homes have to meet strict energy audit standards.

In today's market, it is easier to find financing for a Green Home than for a sticks home. Studies have shown that more families are able to qualify for energy efficient mortgage models that are affordable to all levels of income. The price range does not have to start at $300,000 and upward. In fact, our certified Green Homes in Jacksonville, Florida, start as low as $99,000. Currently we have sold two Green homes that are near completion and five others are under construction.

There is a lot of valuable information and things happening in regards to green homes and green home solutions. Stay tuned and I will keep you posted. If you have urgent questions, however, or just can't wait until my next posting, you are welcome to call or write me.

Until then.....enjoy!!
