So I am typing from my new massage chair. This thing rolls, kneads, percussions. does it all! I love it! I bought it because it is going to go into my new office space as I am getting ready to open my own real estate brokerage. Just as planned we are making the steps forward to a great future.
I just want to take a second and make you wonder about life. Why is it that when you think happy thoughts good things happen. Bad thoughts, bad things! Well I am a firm believer in believing is being and want everyone that reads this to be the same. I have recently bought the new Tony Robbins program( which is awesome and highly recommended) and just Jim Carrey's Yes Man yesterday. For the longest time these thoughts have been what controlled the world. The greatest men have been created by their thoughts, so why not me? I guess rather than why not me, am I on the right track? I dont just want to be successful, I want to be like col Sanders, or some other icon. Not really for the money but for my passion. That is all created by your mind, you perceive and then you are!
So take this from me, be happy be greatful and LIVE LIFE! You can do anything that you want, just believe.

So a lot of things have been going on since my last post. Things have been going pretty great, we have been trying to pay off some debt and have been learning a lot. I stopped going to the REIA meetings so that I could come back in a while and be viewed in a different prospective. This time as a much more successful investor.
I finished up my bachelors degree in real estate studies and am currently in the brokers class. Next month I am going to open up my own brokerage to spread the wings a bit and make it all work. My dad is moving down to work for me and the next couple of months should show great growth.
Well, I will update before too long and wish us all luck.
That actually isnt that cool but I figured it to be a way to start off my blog. The latest and greatest that has been happening to me is that I am selling pretty good or at least I have contracts on some properties and I am going through broker school here in a couple of weeks.
I never realized how cheap it is going to be as a broker, well I pay my broker now between anywhere from $1k to $2.5k per transaction and and all the schooling, licensing and everything is only going to cost me initially $2k. Then it is only a $200 per year annual renewal fee other than being an agent.
An attorney friend of mine is going to sublease some space to me as an office.
Would someone please tell me some more pitfalls to being a broker because right now I am kicking myself for giving all of my money away for not very much support. I am with a small company so there is no brand recognition or anything like that.
It's now the first day of spring and we have fallen into in a slump. We have been avoiding work lately. I guess we're not really trying to, but for some reason it is happening. Yesterday, instead of prospecting, we went fishing and enjoyed a cookout at the park. I will tell you that we have been also sleeping in later than usual and are starting to feel guilty for it.
My question for all of the other self-employed professionals on here is:
How do you keep yourself motivated and disciplined enough to consistently work every day?
I would also like some fresh takes on prospecting if possible.
We appreciate all of your input and advice.
So if you walked into our new trailer today, you may have said, oh my! With all of the roaches and garbage all over the place it seemed a bit crazy. Trust me I have seen and cleaned much worse. Ill tell a story here in a second about when I first took over my apartments and what those looked like.
For now the moral of todays story is that it took maybe an hour for my wife and me to clean up the mess and I got a new cd player deck for my truck which i hooked up and it worked great. I also got three new fishing reels and a great rod for saltwater fishing. Oh yeah did I say someone is going to pay me $450 per month with $2k down and I only paid $2k for the trailer!!
So there are plenty of ways to look at the situation. I took an optimistic approach and realized that I am only a couple years away from financial freedom. I am very fortunate and if I can help. please let me know.
Now about my apartments. The roaches used to be so bad that you would step on one and it would throw your foot back at you. Hed go and get his buddies and chase you out of the house. Now those were some bad bugs. Seriously though, when we would bomb the house the roaches would cover the floor to where you would crunch at every step.
