Chandler is a suburb of Phoenix and is located in the Southeast Valley. The population was 240,595 according to the Census Bureau's 2006 estimate. As you will see below, it has seen some significant growth since the 2000 census.

Following the 2000 census, Chandler has remained one of the fastest growing cities in America. Since the 2000 census Chandler has grown at the rate of 20%. Growth is expected to subside within the next ten years.
The median income for a household in the city was $58,416, and the median income for a family was $62,720. About 4.6% of families and 6.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.7% of those under age 18 and 8.0% of those age 65 or over.

On Saturday, Sept. 13 from 7 to 10 a.m., the only spot to buy LION KING tickets will be in-person at the ASU Gammage Box Office! They are making it a really fun day. The first buyer in line gets an autographed souvenir LION KING book and the first 100 will get a LION KING CD. All ticket buyers are going to get a t-shirt and a fan. Tempe is borded by Phoenix on the west, Scottsdale to the North, Chandler to the South, and Mesa to the East. It is the home to Arizona State University.
As of the 2006 census estimate, there were 169,712 people living in Tempe. This includes: 77.51% White, 3.66% Black or African American, 2.01% Native American, 4.75% Asian, 0.29% Pacific Islander, 8.49% from other races, and 3.30% from two or more races. 17.95% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The median income for a household in the city was $42,361. About 7.5% of families and 14.3% of the population were below the poverty line. If you're wondering about the high poverity percentage....it's because there are a large number of ASU students living in Tempe, so this number doesn't accuratley reflect the overall income of the area.
