The weather is beginning to be more cool. I call it "football weather". Whatever it is, the time has come to check your home for the fall and winter seasons. First the outside stuff: rake leaves, pick up limbs, clean gutters, power wash decks, and generally do your yard work. Also check the roof appearance and make sure there are no tree branches touching the roof. Now is a great time of year to reorganize the attic things. Most of us just pile it up there. You need to organize it occasionally. Mild weather is a great time to be up there. Check your hoses on your washing machine. This is one of the main causes for home flooding. Replace them when you notice any wear or after 5 years. The replacement cost is very low compared to the mess a broken line can cause. Check smoke detector batteries. Have your heating system inspected and winterized by a professional. Get a few extra filters for the return air vent. Now make a trip to the store and get some popcorn and hot chocolate and wait for the temperatures to start to fall.
There is a new device available from Brickhouse Security. www.brickhousesecurity.com They have a little security system that has four cameras that can be placed anywhere in your home or office. They transmit wireless video to a single USB receiver which plugs into your computer. Recording can be continuous, motion-activated, or scheduled. If all this sounds complicated, find yourself a seventh grader to help you. Best of all, this whole system is only $450.
In case you didn't know, officially hot dog season is from Memorial Day to Labor Day. This year during this time, Americans consumed 7 billion hot dogs. That is over 800 hot dogs per second during this period. Not too shabby! Thanks for the comments about hot dogs gang. They may be unhealthy, but they're as American as apple pie.
I am sure you are aware that as the present recession drags on, there will be casualties in the business community. We see it on the news. We hear our friends talk about who is "suffering" economically among the businesses we use regularly. In the past I have been guilty of saying, it's too bad that such and such business went under. I always liked them. Guess I should have given them more business. I heard recently that each of us should pick three small companies in our community that we feel deserve to survive. Then give each of those three businesses at least $50 of our business each month. If enough folks did that, then some of the best small companies would be spared. That way we could enjoy them for a long time after good times return.
When Baby Boomers downsize, they want certain things in their new more modest home. If home builders want to get ahead of the curve, they could offer these as a package and grab a huge market share.
Put all this into a zero lot line home and you will sell all you can make. If you want me to help you sell these, call me today!
