Did you know that simply installing solar panels on the roof of your home can reduce your electricity costs by up to 70 percent! That's right. This world is turning to electricity more and more. Hopefully as a Nation, we will wake up soon to the great efficiency of using nuclear power. The scary stuff of decades ago is still haunting us in spite of greatly improved nuclear safe guards and abilities today. Electric cars, electric appliances, point of use electric instant on hot water, and lots more are what's ahead. To begin to change our expense for this important product is wise. In Mobile, Alabama the sun shines brightly all year. Let's pay less and use more electricity by using renewable sources like solar energy.
So the federal government finally got a program that puts money in the hands of the people. The big banks and corporations get billions and the average person never saw any difference in his life or income. The cash for clunkers program was different. It put real money in the hands of you and me. Only one little problem. The government is taking its sweet time in paying dealers for the clunkers they accepted in trade. That's certainly a hardship on them. Some are already owed tens of thousands of dollars and they are still waiting for the money. You Washington folks have a talent for messing up everything. Hurry up and pay these business folks.
The folks at Dauphin Island really don't like me and you. They wouldn't let folks build hotels or motels for years. They set very early curfew times for guests. The police would harass tourists. They charge us to park near the beach--charge a lot! Many of these folks act so hateful to strangers. Well now its time for everyone to fork over more money for their blessed sand. Their beach is eroding again. Well heavens sakes they live on a barrier island. It will be forever washing away. Don't blame me for the decision to live on a sandbar. But no thanks for the opportunity to give them another handout. Let them buy their own sand this time.
Well its worth noting that Alabama is number one again. No, not in football. The recent polls say that Alabamians are the most conservation folks in the Nation. Not a thing wrong with that. Being conservative means you teach your kids right and wrong (and sometimes the neighbors kids). Conservative means you believe in God and hopefully act like it. Conservative means you don't buy the biggest house you could or the most expensive car you could. Conservative means you believe it is honorable to do a good days work for a good days pay. Calling us conservative is a very nice compliment. Kind of makes me proud!
The State of Alabama promised our citizens that if they invested in the program, it would provide tuition for their children. Some now are suggesting that the State has a "choice" to fund the PACT or let it go under. There is only one choice to make--how do we fund it. We can never allow our State leaders to balance the budget on the backs of our kids. The tuition was PROMISED to be there. So there it must be!
