Well it is that time again- Serene , Peaceful, Cascade Park.
is alive with the 50's July 3 though 6

Cascade Park in New Castle, Pa goes back in the time machine to celebrate the 1950.
This event draws entertainment for the whole family. The 1950 music, Elvis singing his heart out, the anticipated antique car show, the aroma of all
the food vendors, all this and more in this yearly spectacular..

You really don't need to hunt up your old class-mates. They will be there, with their kids.

The young and the old come to celebrate and reminisce about what was.
A good time is always had by all. This is one of the many fun events in New Castle. Our residents always
seem to be there to support the many who work so hard to create a special time for families to share and remember. They do this event every year.

I took these pictures in the rain this afternoon pre-opening first night- before all the activity.

As I sit here blogging ( instead of at the park enjoying Elvis). I can almost hear the music , the roar of those coveted antique cars and the smell of all that food.
That is a feat because I am 6 miles away.

BUT my home is on a hill that overlooks the valley of New Castle and I can stand at my living room window and see the fireworks. I guess you can say I have the best seat in the house. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

Just kind of wondered if anywhere else has this back to the 50's event?

How did New Castle, Pa ever receive the distinction of “Fireworks Capital of America"

Fireworks

In 1990 the residents of New Castle, located in Lawrence County heard the announcement that their hometown was named “Fireworks Capital ofAmerica”. Celebration and excitement was in order. Welcome signs and banners lined the streets. To continue the celebration, the Fireworks Capital of America committee sponsors annually a fireworks festival each July. The festival includes something for everyone, including free family entertainment, live music, street dancing, wonderful ethnic foods, the ducky derby and of course the finale…… FIREWORKS!

Our claim to fame as fireworks Capital of America" all started back in 1886 when Leopold Fazzoni

emigrated to New Castle and started Fazzoni Brothers Fireworks Company.

In 1895 Paul Rozzi settled in New Castle to work with Fazzoni and soon opened his own company, Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks

Constantino Vitale learned the trade of manufacturing fireworks from Rozzi and found the Vitale Fireworks Manufacturing Company in Italy. In 1922 Vitale brought his company to New Castle.

In 1994 the name of Vitale Fireworks Manufacturing Company was changed to Pyrotecnico.

Antonio Zambelli worked for Fazzoni Fireworks and in the late 1940’s Zambelli purchased the Fazzoni’s business and renamed it Zambelli Internationale. As we all know the rest is history

When these Italian families emigrated to America and brought their love of fireworks with them, they brought to the residents of New Castle a share in their contribution to the world. A love of fireworks flourishes in America and because of them we can share in their glory.
