HUNTINGTON TOWNSHIP buyers are out, even tho we are up to here in snow!!!

Buyers in the Winter! Where are they?

Here in Huntington Township we are up to here in snow……. It just never seems to stop, much like New England, it just keeps on snowing… So what about the buyers? The sellers are going crazy shoveling and working hard trying to keep their houses shoveled and cleaned and sit in a nice cozy house planning their exit south, and waiting, just waiting for the buyers! H E L P!!!

The other day during a particularly COLD dreary day, four people arrived at my Open House!!! I can’t tell you how happy I was to see signs of this. So I think even tho the market has changed and prices are lower, this is still one of the greatest places to live…… People still want to live in this beautiful place near the water, near NYC … Home ownership is still very alive here in Huntington Township. This includes Huntington Village, Huntington Bay, Halesite, Lloyd Harbor, Lloyd Neck, Cold Spring Harbor, Centerport, Greenlawn, E. Northport, Northport, Asharoken, Eaton’s Neck ……

So now that we are living thru one of the snowiest winters of my memory, Real Estate is still alive in Huntington Township!!! (we call it Zone 20)…. So far this year 56 houses have gone to Contract ……. In this freezing cold and snow, there are still SERIOUS buyers out there!!! Houses that are priced right SELL! There is no question about it!!! So even tho we are up to here in snow (see photo), we are starting the year off with a BANG!!! Sierra in the Snow

Huntington Real Estate/Harborfields Schools

Harborfields School District – THIS is the place to live—the areas that it covers is Centerport, Greenlawn, Huntington, some of Northport, and some of South Huntington………….. We have copies of the school district map upon request!

Formed in about 1955, year after year this is one of the TOP School Districts in New York State!!!

Being lucky enough to have graduated in the first graduating class of Harborfields was an experience in itself. We were the trail blazers and we helped form what the school is today.

We chose the mascot, school colors, class ring, School district name, Harborfields….. (Harbor from “Cow Harbor” and Fields from the potato fields which Harborfields was built on!!!) We had the FIRST Homecoming dance, the FIRST sock hop, the Cheerleaders coreographied the FIRST cheers, the FIRST sports teams, the FIRST of everything!!!

This was a unique time and what a great place to grow up.

Harborfields has continued to excel both academically and in sports. This school district is a sought after district and we, Suzanne & Brian Asher, continually are TOP AGENTS in the district!!! WE are the ones who people call if they want to move into the Harborfields district! WE are called if someone wants to know what houses are coming on the market in the near future! WE are the ones that people call if they have questions about Harborfields! We are NOW third generation at Harborfields, as our grandsons are attending Harborfields High School. If you know anybody wanting to move to Harborfields School District, refer them to Suzanne and Brian Asher, The Winning Team in Real Estate!!!!

LINKS LOG CABIN ... Fine Steaks, Lobster, $1 burgers and fries!!!.. Centerport, NY

LINKS LOG CABIN… Fine Steaks and $1 burgers and fries …… Centerport, New York

Boy do Suzanne & Brian Asher have great memories and stories to share!!!

There was this great restaurant in Centerport. It was called Links Log Cabin. Here during the 50’s and probably before and after that, people from all over the island would come to enjoy a great dinner here in Centerport! It was a very popular place, and you would usually have to wait on line to get in!!! Our family went to Links when we came out to Centerport to “Visit” our home being built on Mallard Cove. My Dad would get his traditional burger, while my Mom would chow down on a big lobster and suck every morsel out of that baby!!! (Currently at this spot there are condos. The development is called “Courtyard Circle”)

Brian’s brother Randy worked there for a time. Randy went for a job at Links and they asked if he could open clams. He said “sure” (he was a pro at opening clams because Brian was a clam digger as he made his way thru Harvard and younger brother Randy was his cull boy/helper!)… and he was immediately hired for the job in the kitchen. When he showed the head of the kitchen how fast and efficient he was at opening clams, he was so proud, only to have the boss say it wasn’t right!? What do you mean I didn’t do it right? Yea kid, you gotta do it this way.... He cut the clam in half, and put a half on each clam shell half!!! At this restaurant, they took one clam and cut it in half!!!! So much for old fashioned “value”……… and who in their right mind who is eating clams actually LOOK at the clam they are about to eat it???!!!

Still in all, this was a fun place to go to eat……… and even tho they skimped on the clams, the burgers were THE BEST!!!!
