It looks like property taxes in Grandvew, MO may be increasing next year.

For the past few years, the Grandview C-4 School District has voluntarily rolled back its tax rate charged to district residents on their property tax. This year, the district is proposing to eliminate that roll-back, which could raise the property tax rate for district residents by almost 8¢.

A family living in a $100,000 home now pays $1,035.50 property tax at the current $5.45 per $100 assessed valuation rate. If the tax were raised to $5.5291, then they would pay $1,050.53. That means an increase of $15.03 per year or $1.25 per month for that household. For real estate, it's 19% of the assessed value of a home.

So I just saw the move I.O.U.S.A. If you haven’t heard about this film I’m not surprised. I only heard about it on YouTube and Gerri Weits's blog. Sadly, most people have no interest in our countries severely flawed financial policies. And why should they? The media tells us that everything is okay. We actually believe the things that politicians say to us on television. This film by itself is shocking. But what are even more frightening are the solutions to these problems. Our economy is built on spending not producing or savings like it should be. In order to fix these problems we must start producing again in addition to saving. This necessary transition will be difficult for a generation of Americans who have been conditioned to buy now and pay later. While the film does end on a positive note by providing solutions for our economic problems, as each solution came across the screen I felt more overcome with despair. Why? Because this is America and while I love this country I know that we won't do anything until the crisis is on our doorstep. Go see I.O.U.S.A.

This has been a busy week for The Vizion Group, especially these last couple of days. On Thursday we picked up two additional listings both in Grandview including a huge 7 Bedroom 4 Bath house in the lovely Auburn Hills subdivision. Two of our other listings, one in Grandview and one in South Kansas City became available for rent. We dropped the list price on both of our listings in the Kirkside subdivision along with one in Byars Gardens so we can be more aggressively priced in these areas. Our new website is finally up and running the way it should after roughly a week of small problems. The new investor video was finally agreed upon and uploaded. And last but not least I passed 10,000 points on AR! It’s funny to think that just a few weeks ago I didn’t even know that a place like AR existed.

So it finally happened to me. Today while I was eating lunch at Chipotle I received a call from someone who found me on AR. Unfortunately it was not a potential client. It was a telemarketer trying to get me to switch property management companies. After explaining to him that we already have a management company and were not in the market for a new one I asked the telemarketer where he had gotten my phone number. His response was my website which he got the link too from my AR home page. While I hate being hassled by telemarketers’ l love the fact that people are finding me on AR! Has this happened to anyone else?
