Everybody should stop by Cosmos Diner Restaurant to experience the one of the best diners in Wilmington.
I admit it - I love diners. I like the food, the service, and the people. Situated off Maryland Avenue south of Wilmington and just north of Newport, Cosmos Diner Restaurant is one of the best in Delaware offering all the classic diner fare plus many Greek Specialties. The restaurant has been a local stalwart for years.
Cosmos offers booths, table top, and counter dining options. The service is excellent with a great friendly staff.
Having a wide variety of seating options, there is rarely a wait, and if you are bringing a large family or group, there is plenty of room to combine tables in the back. They open everyday at 6:30 and close at 9:00 except for Friday and Saturday when they remain open till 10:00.
The food is excellent with great service and hearty portions. I would personally recommend the Pastitchio, French Dip, or Omelets, but they have a wide range of standard items covering most every taste.
In addition, they do have weekly specials Monday through Thursday including Chicken and Dumplings, Ham and Cabbage, and Chicken Pot Pie. These are complemented with a wide variety of additional daily specials.
Cosmos serves a great variety of Greek favorites everyday and offers periodic Greek specials. To finish off any meal, you need to try one of their pies or pastries that are baked right on the premises. I have only been there during the day/evening, but their breakfasts are renowned and are served everyday, all day.
They are easy to get to by following Newport Pike (Route 4) north from Route 141 in Newport or take Boxwood Road over to Maryland Avenue. From the Riverfront (or from downtown Wilmington), they are just a few minutes south along Maryland Avenue just beyond the intersection with DuPont Rd at 316 S Maryland Avenue.
If you love good food and fast friendly service, you have to go to Cosmos Diner Restaurant. If you just like to check out the local diners and restaurants, you need to add this to your itinerary.
Visit, Enjoy, and let me know what you think!
Pace One is a Country Inn - Restaurant - Bar & Grille located in Thornton PA.
Every once in a while you just happen to have a meal that is just right. Pace One in Thornton Pa just came through with flying colors.
Pace One is a Country Inn - Restaurant - Bar & Grille in Thornton PA. Located just south of the intersection of Glen Mills Rd and Thornton Rd, the restaurant is steeped in history. Both the town and property date back to colonial times. The property was intimately involved in the Battle of the Brandywine in September of 1777, serving as the field hospital for the American wounded.
Since then the buildings have been variously used for manufacturing linens, as a post office (reputed to be the oldest continuous one in the US), and a general store. Since 1978, the restaurant has been located in the restored 1740's stone barn providing outdoor seating, porch seating, and formal dining room areas.
Three of us had the chance to recently visit for dinner seated on the porch. Two ate off the Summer Grille menu. We tried both the Wild Mushroom Spinach Lasagna and the Roasted Salmon. Both were excellent.
They were cooked perfectly allowing the flavors of the food to come through without the heavy sauces and spices found in so many establishments today. The third ordered from the regular menu and tried out the 1/2 Roast Chicken. This was one hearty bird with half of it going home for another day. All the meals were great followed up with a Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. It was an excellent meal complemented with excellent service.
Pace One is open for dinner seven days a week, lunch five days a week, and brunch on Sunday. They have a wide ranging menu from Hearty Classic Entrees to the lighter Grille Menu/Petite Entrees plus a great selection of soups, appetizers, and desserts. All meals can also be eaten in the bar which was quite lively during our visit. They also have several meeting rooms and offer off premise catering throughout the area.
If you're visiting the area or just looking for a regular country spot, this may be the perfect answer. Ted Pace, the owner, could not be more friendly and is available to answer your questions anytime. If you haven't been there before or if you just have not had the chance to visit recently, it may be time to try it again - go for it.
As always, please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Cutter's Mill, The Natural Pet Place, believes that your pets also deserve the best.
Cutter's Mill's logo is that it is The Natural Pet Place. They offer a "wide variety of natural, organic, holistic foods for dogs, cats, companion birds, small animals, fish and reptiles, plus a wide variety of unique and "gotta have it" accessories."
When they say that they offer over 50 brands of traditional, premium, natural, and organic foods for your pets, you can believe it. The aisles are stacked with a wide assortment of foods of every imaginable type and make. They even include a raw bar and an amazing display of baked goods.
Only open since March, the store itself is beautiful with a nice upscale feel: wood finishes on the floors and fixtures, great and imaginative lighting, kiosks handling dog beds, toys, bones, and all kinds of accessories. When I dropped by Sunday, they had a rep from Wellness Core Foods describing their foods and health benefits. Cutter's Mill has a nice open layout with seats up front and a wide variety of items tastefully displayed for easy access and perusal.

The friendly staff encourages you to bring your pet, and they were able to answer all the questions thrown their way by the pet owners. They really seem to enjoy being there, visiting with the pets, and working with their visitors - the Trader Joe's of pet stores.
This is an upscale environment as evidenced by the Nieman Marcus inspired $2500 dog bed emblazoned with Swarovski Crystals so the pricing can match. By signing up for their newsletter, however, you will be notified of all the specials for each month so you can take full advantage of everything that is offered during the year. They also hold many special events from Letterman's Stupid Pet Trick Auditions to Pet Psychics and they support the local community with Certified Visiting Dog Trainers and many Animal Rescue groups.
If you are looking to pamper your animal with some special food or gift, this is definitely a place to look for that distinctive gift. If you are concerned about your animals diet or your pet has some special needs, this is the place to ask your questions.
They are open seven days a week and they do have four locations in the region but this is the only one in this area. Enjoy and say "Hi" to Gus while you're there. If you have any questions, let me know.
