As an active contributor and professional member at Energized Seller, the website for Home Selling and Home Staging Tips, I would like to let you know about a contest they've been featuring but the deadline is fast approaching!
As part of their initial launch and a site visitor participation incentive, Energized Seller has been featuring a Scary or Funny Pet Photo contest on the site and currently there are under 40 entries. Your chances of winning $500 are pretty good if you think you've got a scary or funny pet photo to share!
My brother in law's dog Missy thinks she may have the evil eye necessary to beat the rest of those pups and pusses .... but she's yet to enter - Alan can you hear me?
$500 can buy a lot of treats for your precious pet!
Take a gander at the current entrants and see if your pet photo can beat some of the entries already posted.
Hurry, the contest ends March 31st, 2009!
And please feel free to post your pet photo here too!
Good luck!
While we're still in the early stages of forming a Dallas RESA Chapter the last meet and greet we had at IKEA , Frisco,TX was very successful (in spite of the rain!) and those in attendance decided we should meet again in April at a more central location.
Based on the addresses of those in attendance at the last meeting Richardson,TX was the most centrally located city for everyone. (Thank you Rose for figuring that out)
After checking into the area for possibilities with quiet spaces we could meet and talk, Cafe Brazil in Richardson,TX off Central Expressway and Campbell had the capacity and area where we can meet as a group and be able to talk.
They also have a great coffee bar of all you can drink coffees from around the globe - so bring your un caffeinated self and your ideas and let's get this ball rolling!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 13, 2009 |
Rosewood Center's Young Adult Relevant Drama Presents
dont u luv me?
A world premiere by Linda Daugherty
April 3 - April 19, 2009
"Females ages 16-24 are more vulnerable to intimate partner violence than any other age group - at a rate almost triple the national average." ~U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics
(Dallas, TX) DCT's Young Adult Relevant Drama (YARD) confronts teen dating violence and its horrifying outcomes in a courageous new play for young adults. Made possible in part through the M.R. & Evelyn Hudson Foundation, DCT presents the world premiere of dont u luv me? by award-winning playwright Linda Daugherty, from April 3 through April 19, 2009 in the Studio Theater at DCT's Rosewood Center for Family Arts.
This powerful world premier completes a trilogy that began with The Secret Life of Girls, addressing girl bullying, followed by EAT (It's Not About Food), about eating disorders. dont u luv me? explores the small warning signs that escalate into aggression and violence while encouraging young people to make choices that result in healthy relationships. Nancy Schaeffer, DCT's Education Director and director of the play, comments, "We know from experience that the best way to reach young people is not to shy away from unpleasant behavior and its devastating consequences. We aim to give our youth the tools to do it right." DCT's YARD reaffirms its commitment to presenting challenging, edgy and thought-provoking material for teen audiences with dont u luv me?
Since the spring of 2006 when a staged reading of The Secret Life of Girls exploded onto DCT's teen scene, Linda Daugherty's new plays for adolescents have received overwhelming feedback from teens, parents and health professionals across the nation. DCT has always been committed to developing plays, and Dramatic Publishing, one of the leading sources of plays and musicals since 1885, recognizes DCT as a lead developer of new work. During the last three years, schools and community theaters in 17 states across the U.S. and throughout Canada have produced Secret Life and EAT, following their publication by Dramatic Publishing, and professional theaters such as Children's Theatre of Charlotte, Theater of Youth in Buffalo, NY and Magical Theater Company in Barberton, Ohio are presenting Secret Life this year. Hot on the heels of DCT's premiere of dont u luv me?, high school students in Emporia, Kansas are presenting the play at S.O.S., a safety services organization, and guest speaker Denise Brown,

sister to Nicole Brown-Simpson, will speak out about the issue of domestic violence following the performance. Ms. Daugherty is only one of a few writers creating relevant, contemporary pieces developed specifically for adolescent audiences, and students, educators and the pubic are responding with immense enthusiasm.
This brave study aims to start a conversation in homes, schools and communities, providing the opportunity to ask questions and define healthy dating. Ms. Daugherty states, "As evidenced by the recent attack on pop-star Rihanna by her celebrity boyfriend Chris Brown, the problem of dating aggression desperately needs to be addressed. In 2007 the Texas Legislature required that all schools incorporate domestic violence education in the classroom, but unlike a lecture or textbook, live theater makes a tremendous impact. There is power in age appropriate material that enables an audience to identify with its characters going through the consequences of bad behavior. It is a story that needs to be told." And like all DCT's YARD productions, dont u luv me? ends with hope. Ms. Daugherty continues, "The play leaves us with some questions to answer about the characters' futures, but we do see that Angela makes a positive choice to get help and move on. This is also why the talk-back is an integral part of the play." DCT again partners with esteemed social service organizations and professionals for an educated and guided post show discussion.
In order to help patrons leave the theater feeling educated and empowered, DCT has continued to gather an Advisory Council made up of individuals from prominent and respected social service organizations, as well as DCT board members and staff. Together, DCT and these talented, caring experts craft a post performance event/forum giving audiences the opportunity to ask questions, role play strategies for interrupting unhealthy patterns, and take home lists of resources, literature and information about how to tackle the problem. Representatives from The Family Place, the largest family violence service provider in the Dallas area, as well as doctors and licensed psychologists from the Advisory Council will be present for performances of dont u luv me? In addition, Nicole Nixon, the REDBOOK and Liz Claiborne, Inc. MADE (Moms and Dads for Education to Stop Teen Dating Abuse) Action Leader for the state of Texas has provided copies of the MADE toolkit and "Love is Not Abuse" curriculum for patrons. Other Advisory Council members include individuals from Girls to Women Health and Wellness, Children's Medical Center, Genesis Women's Shelter, Dallas Independent School District, The Elisa Project, Southern Methodist University, Highland Park Independent School District, The Hockaday School, Highland Park United Methodist Church, Planned Parenthood of North Texas, Kids at Heart, and Renewal Counseling Center.
Sophomore Angela has a new boyfriend, a senior named C.J, and she's never felt this way before. All her friends agree, "he's the hottest thing ever!" He's romantic. He sends her flowers. He texts her day and night. C.J.'s affection eventually becomes possessive, as he starts demanding more and more of her time and that she agree to his every wish. Although Angela begins to sense that something isn't right, she gives up her friends, her studies and everything that she once valued, such as working on the school newspaper. Making matters worse, C.J. has
his own personal family struggles, and the relationship spirals dangerously downward as C.J.

becomes more controlling, and Angela more isolated. When C.J. turns physically violent, her terror leaves her paralyzed and alone. Can she find the strength to tell her oldest friend, Jen, her terrible secret? Will she find the support she needs to break free?
Set designer Randel Wright conveys the power of manipulation and control with a large video screen center stage where photos and text messaging loom menacingly over the action. A veil of technology facilitates the dominance of Angela's oppressor, where cell phones play a suffocating role. Music and contemporary songs pulled together by sound designer Marco Salinas portray escalating violence and the confusion Angela experiences as she struggles to escape.
Making her DCT debut is University of North Texas Drama student Lauren Rosen as Angela. Montgomery Sutton, who began taking acting class at DCT at the age of three and who recently graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Acting Program, returns to Dallas to play C.J. under his first Actors' Equity Association contract. An ensemble rounds out the cast, and due to the importance of capturing the authentic spirit and speech patterns of teenagers, several high school age actors play vital roles.
DCT Announces Special Opening Night Panel Discussion
On Friday, April 3rd, following the 7:30pm opening night performance, DCT will host a special panel discussion led by esteemed experts on the issue of domestic violence. Panel participants include Ellicia Money & Sarah Paskman of The Family Place, Dr. Tyler Wooten of Children's Medical Center, Dr. Susan Sugarman of Girls to Women Health and Wellness, and the REDBOOK and Liz Claiborne Inc. MADE Action Leader, Nicole Nixon.
The National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline motto sums it up with, "love is respect!" Come see dont u luv me? and help rally parents and teens to raise awareness for healthy relationships!
