Twenty-three More Counties Named Camera Ready Communities
Economic impact of the entertainment industry hit $2.4 billion during fiscal year 2011
ATLANTA, September 15, 2011
— Governor Nathan Deal and the Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office, a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), designated 23 Georgia counties Camera Ready at the annual Governor‟s Tourism Conference yesterday. The state‟s Camera Ready Community Program was started in October 2010 to support the growing film and television industry. The program now includes 112 counties across the state.
"Our aggressive tax incentive, new infrastructure and expanding crew base make Georgia the leading lady for film and television production," said GDEcD commissioner Chris Cummiskey. "At any given time you can find multiple productions providing jobs and investment in numerous communities across the state."
Camera Ready was put in place by the state to offer film and television production companies access to local resources and information. The program is a special designation given to participating Georgia communities interested in attracting entertainment productions. Local economic impact from productions can be significant, including hiring of local residents, hotel stays and purchases of goods and services. A Camera Ready Community must designate one point person who can assist film and television production companies on a local level.
The 23 Georgia counties that received the „Camera Ready Community' designation during the Governor‟s luncheon were Chattooga, Catoosa, Dade, Johnson, Troup, Polk, Jackson, Liberty, Bartow, Union, Bacon, Clinch, Murray, McIntosh, Sumter, Evans, Cook, Colquitt, Spalding, Randolph, Wayne, Clarke and Putnam.
The 2008 Georgia Entertainment Industry Investment Act helped the state‟s entertainment industry achieve record numbers. Georgia is now among the top five states in the nation for film and TV production with more than 327 productions shot in Georgia from July 2010 through June 2011, bringing in more than $683.5 million in investment to Georgia. These projects have generated an economic impact of $2.4 billion.
Georgia-filmed movies slated to hit theatres in the coming months include a remake of "Footloose" on October 14 and "Wanderlust" starring Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd on February 24, 2012. Georgia can also be seen on television sets across the world with multiple television series now calling Georgia home. Season 3 of the CW‟s "Vampire Diaries" airs on September 15 and AMC‟s record-breaking "The Walking Dead" returns on October 16.

MULCH MADNESS!
A word about Mulch. It is a wonderful thing and serves a variety of functions. In addition to beautifying your landscape it controls erosion and helps to maintain moisture in your soil for your plants. Some people think that once the mulch is down, the mission is accomplished. They now have a maintenance free yard that will continue to look perfect. While mulch is great it is not maintenance free, in fact nothing is totally maintenance free. Yes, it will suppress weeds but.... weed seeds will continue to fall and germinate on top of your newly mulched area. Once you have mulched you should be diligent in your weed removal. To maintain your mulch it should be top dressed on a regular basis and kept at a depth of 3 inches.
The other area of confusion is the type of mulch to use. There are several choices, single ground hardwood/softwood mulch, double ground hardwood mulch, pine straw, rubber mulch, red or black mulch and stone. All the these options have pros and cons: SINGLE GROUND is reasonably priced and blends in with the woodlands very well. DOUBLE GROUND is a little more expensive but hugs the ground very well. PINE STRAW is about the same price as single ground, is slippery on slopes but a good option to define beds in a single ground mulched yard. RUBBER MULCH is crazy expensive, almost 10 times that of mulch and hard to keep debris out of. RED AND BLACK MULCH is chemically dyed but can look great in certain situations to define an area. STONE MULCH, which can be pea gravel, white stone or the larger flat river rock. While more expensive it does not degrade and is easy to maintain.
We do A LOT of Mulching!!! Up here in the hills where grass yards are not always a good option, or wanted, mulch is the answer. Complete Home Services in Blairsville, GA does all types in quantities large and small. If you are short on time or the task is just too overwhelming give them a call 706-400-9125.
Of course it is great exercise if you wish to do your own mulching. You could even cut out that gym membership, get some fresh air and commune with Nature! While all that is great you might want to call Complete Home Services. They don't mind the heat and can toss mulch and swat bugs at the same time. They're crazy like that! (And did I mention that they do a fantastic job! They serve Blairsville, GA and the surrounding areas. Not to mention, they offer a large variety of other home services!)
So feel free to visit their website or give Cindy or Don a call today 706-400-9125 or 706-897-7354.
