Ski California Slopes this Winter!

Ski California Slopes this Winter

I know, I know... it's only fall and you may not be ready to hear the "S" (snow) word, but the fact is, winter is just around the corner. In fact, Mammoth is already to open. SO, I thought I'd post this "re-worked" message about all the ski slopes in SOCAL & other California mountains. Below you'll find just about all the information you need when it's time to brush off those skis.

SNOW VALLEY, in Running Springs--San Bernardino Mountains--is right in my Lake Arrowhead back door (almost). For those of us who live in or, around, Lake Arrowhead, it's only about a 30 minute drive from our front door. Snow Valley has some gentle runs (in my opinion) and it's a great place to take the entire family. From their link (above), you can access snow reports, buy tickets, get a terrain report and tons, tons more! Snow Valley tries to open every year around Thanksgiving. Read about opening times right here. Map & Directions

There's some interesting history about SNOW SUMMIT, in Big Bear, that you may not know; A sportsman named Tommi Tyndall, along with his wife and other investors, are responsible for this ski area and for the installation of the FIRST chair lift in the nation! Snow Summit is about 90 minutes from Los Angeles, gets quite a bit more snow than Snow Valley and has more "strenuous" runs. Find out everything this wonderful ski area has to offer at Snow Summit stats. Map & Directions

Also nearby to Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego is MOUNTAIN HIGH RESORTin our San Gabriel Mountains. Check their site for daily conditions, tickets/passes, trail map and MUCH MORE.

If you want to get out of Dodge and head up north, then you may want to consider MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN. With over 400" of snowfall annually, and thousands of acres of terrain to ski, sometimes Mammoth will have snow when no other ski resort do. Located off Hwy 395, it is quite a drive...but most people say it's well worth it. Map & Directions
