Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

The Lexington High School Tigers are the District champs and they will be hosting the Regional Tournament beginning tomorrow at Guy B. Amis Park.

Lexington Tennessee is a great place to grow up playing any sport but for years we have been especially passionate about our baseball! For well over a decade we have sent team after team to championship games at every playing level. From coach pitch to high school, little Lexington has been there at the state level time and time again. It's not an accident or a fluke, it's from countless hours of hard work by dedicated parents, coaches and community leaders.

When the Lexington Tigers take the field tomorrow, most of the starting lineup will have played together since coach pitch All-Stars. I have been privileged to watch them play together at every level ( and no I DON'T have a son on the team lol). I have seen them play courageously to victory and cry together in defeat. I have seen them grow and change and become young men right there in the Guy B Amis City Park. I am proud of them and their achievements.

I am excited about tomorrow's game but there is a sadness too, knowing that in the next couple of weeks that win or lose, this team will play their last game together. For many they will play at the college level but for others it will be their last game.

Good luck Tigers! Play hard and 'have fun boys' as my friend Beverly always says!

Working Up an APPETITE!!

I am SO happy. My favorite place for lunch is reopening tomorrow! It's moved into a new location on the corner of Main and Monroe in downtown Lexington Tennessee.

Lexingtonis a small town but our downtown eatery "The Lunch Box" will rival any sandwich place anywhere! With 30 wonderful sandwich selections along with soups and salads you can't go wrong and won't get tired of this great little place located in downtown Lexington TN on the Court Square. It's only open 11-2 Monday 0- Friday.

My favorite is the Monte Cristo but I have made it my goal to try every single sandwich on the menu.

SO if you live or work in Lexington or you're just in the neighborhood, stop by and enjoy one of the great sandwiches! You won't be disappointed!

Hey You Baseball Fans!

What is your favorite kind of baseball to watch?

Do you like to watch the pros? You may even be watching the Red/Cards game like I am right now.

Maybe it's college baseball that you enjoy the most? Maybe you like a great team in the SEC like the Mississippi State Bulldogs!

Or you might be a high school baseball fan? Here in West Tennessee we are getting ready to begin district playoffs this Thursday. It's an exciting time for our Lexington Tigers who have had a great season and are expected to do well in postseason play.

Perhaps Little League baseball is the purist form of baseball to you. There's nothing quite like watching those 11-12 year players in the Little League World Series. Those guys are truly the 'boys of summer'

BUT if you love baseball how can you resist the pleasure of watching those coach pitch 5 & 6 year olds who are just learning the joys of this great game.

It's ALL GOOD as far as I'm concerned.

Besides there's no better networking spot in most towns than your local ballpark in the spring. '

So slap on that nametag & go catch a game!

It's National Library Week! Another Lexington Hidden Gem!

Lexington/Henderson County is blessed with so many hidden gems and this week I want to share with you our little gem of a library. According to our wonderul librarian Dinah Harris "The library of today is not the same as the library we knew growing up. Books are still an integral part of the library but they are only a portion of what the public library of today has to offer."

With children's activities, book signings, computer instruction and SO much more offered at the library, I would like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone to visit Lexington-Henderson County Everett Horn Library in Lexington.

Visit the Everett Horn Library @ 702 West Church St. in Lexington Tennessee. I look forward to seeing you there!
