College Park Village - The Woodlands

The College Park Village has many important focal points including the St Luke's Medical Center; Lone Star College and University Center; The Woodlands College Park High School; and a variety of retail centers. This focus gives this village the flavor of a "college town" on the northern side of The Woodlands.

Retail shops range from a Wal-Mart SuperCenter plus Garden Ridge, Kohl's, Lowes - to - smaller boutique shops of every kind You will find book stores, coffee shops, fast food, family restaurants, lodging, drug stores, banks and so much more.

For active people over 55, College Park has the age-restricted communities of Windsor Hills and Windsor Lakes. Harpers Landing, The Woodlands is a large family community that is part of College Park located to the east of I-45 and has a community pool, water fun park, recreational parks with playgrounds and playfields.

College Park Drive is also known as State Hwy 242 and travels northwest to FM 1488 and southeast to State Hwy 59 in eastern Montgomery County and Kingwood.

Panther Creek in The Woodlands

Lake Woodlands is on the Eastern edge of the Village of Panther Creek, the second village to be built in this master-planned community. Two of the most popular parks of The Woodlands border that lake. Northshore Park is the site for the Annual YMCA Dragonboat races and the Sunday evening Concerts in The Park during the Spring and Summer. Southshore Park is home of "the dragon" with the sculputure officially named ""Rise of the Midgard Serpent."

Panther Creek shopping center is anchored by Randall's Grocery store and includes restaurants such as Ace Chinese, Long-John Silvers, Taco Bell, Popeyes Chicken, McDonalds and several others. There is a post office nearby and also CVS Pharmacy, several retail stores and service providers like insurance agents, veternarian clinics, etc.

As The Woodlands continues growth, Panther Creek's convenient location and proximity to the newest village, Creekside Park, Towne Center, The Woodlands Mall and I-45 is making it a very popular place to live.

The Woodlands Historic District - Grogans Mill Village

The first thing buyers notice about the Grogans Mill Village is it's convenience to I-45. But what will impress you the most is the towering, mature trees that have homes nestled in among them. When this village was developed in the 1970's, much care was taken to preserve as many trees as possible. In fact, the legacy of keeping the natural trees still is honored anywhere in The Woodlands. Strict deed restrictions require that you get permission to remove any tree larger than 3 inches in diameter. This village demonstrates how that policy of preserving nature can mature.

Among the winding cul-de-sacs, you will find The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center and two golf courses. Two large parks are Tamarac and Sawmill park which features a swimming pool. The Grogans Mill Shopping Center borders Lake Harrison and features Randall's Grocery store, several restaurants including Chef Chan's Chinese, Becks Prime, and Fuddruckers.

Participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring

Ask your friends and relatives to bring food with them when they join you for the Super Bowl on Sunday. The Montgomery County Food Bank will hold its own Souper Bowl during the week after the football game.

Since people are already getting together during the game, it is a good time to share your good fortune with others. Organizers encourage those that host Super Bowl parties to gather non-perishable food for the food bank. Churches, schools, businesses, civic organizations and individuals are all getting in on the action.

The Souper Bowl of Caring is part of a nationwide food bank event and each community will record their results online. So get competitive with your giving. Monetary donations are also requested. Trina Silva, the event coordinator says that every dollar donated can buy 11 pounds of food and 100% of the donations will go directly to the food bank in Montgomery County.

A few of the organizations that have made the commitment to be involved are HEB Grocery Stores in The Woodlands and Conroe, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Union Center African Methodist Episcopal Church. To learn more about the project call Trina Silva at (936) 539-6686
