My family was saddened when Village Inn Pizza was burned down on January 19th but nothing prepared us for when another Village Inn Pizza was burned down on January 25. My boys love to eat there and often pick to go there to celebrate their birthday. They asked where they could go now. Luckily there are still two more Village Inn Pizzas in Conover and Bethlehem.

According to the Hickory Daily Record:

The president of Village Inn Pizza, Elizabeth Miller, said the public support since the fires has been overwhelming. She said the company's Web site crashed Wednesday because so many customers had visited it to send e-mails of condolences and support. There's also a group called "Rebuild Village Inn Pizza!!!" on the Facebook social networking Web site that has 633 members.

Miller said when her grandfather established the pizza chain in 1967, it was the first pizza restaurant several towns had ever had and people grew up eating Village Inn Pizza. "As far as I know, he introduced pizza to Statesville, Hickory and Salisbury," she said.

Miller said the quality of Village Inn Pizza's food is what inspires her customers' loyalty. "Our sauce and dough is homemade every single day," she said. "We've had the same recipe since the 1960s." Her goal is to find a location to rebuild as quickly as possible. She said she'd open another location immediately if she could."We're definitely opening two new restaurants in Hickory and I'm not ruling out three." Miller said. "We're definitely coming back in Hickory."

The overwhelming reaction from local residents is that going to the other restaurants will not be enough - they want the owners to rebuild in Hickory. People want them to rebuild so much that they have actually formed a Facebook Group called Rebuild Village Inn Pizza. Make sure you show your support and join the group !
