One of the best features of the central part of Massachusetts is that it is full of small fresh water rivers, lakes and ponds. These water bodies provide opportunities for outdoor recreation. The summer just buzzes with swimmers, water-skiiers, boaters, and fisher-men and -women.
But did you know that reasonably-priced waterfront properties are available here? In fact, in Worcester and Hampden Counties, there are currently close to 400 properties with water frontage on the market. Some of these are little seasonal cottages, some are campsites for RVs, some are just waterfront land parcels, and many are year-round homes.
How are these properties priced? Here is a quick run-down:
Single famly: $50,000 to $2,600,000
Condominium: $100,000 to $429,900
Multi-famly: $144,900 to $599,000
Land: $16,900 to $2,000,000
If you have been thinking of finding a getaway spot on or near water, don't overlook the towns in central Masachusetts. It's a great place to stay and a great place to play!

It's time to play ball! Sturbridge Little League will hold its opening day activities on Sunday, May 3, 2009. Events begin at 11:30 AM and go through 4:00 PM. The fields at Burgess Elementary School have been cleaned up by many helpful parents and volunteers.
If you have a family member or friend playing in Little League this year, but sure to stop at the Burgess fields and have some fun with them.

Signs of Spring in Sturbridge
While the weekend temperatures rose to summer levels, it is still only the end of April. We have just started to see nature peeking out from between the raindrops to add a splurge of color here and there. Enjoy these photos of the first signs of spring in Sturbridge!

Hollywood is coming to little Southborough!
According to an article in the MetroWest Daily News, the Pilgrim Congregational Church and the Old Burial Ground cemetary in Southborough, MA, will serve as part of the setting for a new comedy movie starring Adam Sandler and David Spade. Such excitement for this pretty New England town!
Negotiations are still under way, but it looks like the Southborough filming will take place in May. It is being produced by Lakefront Productions. Check the newspaper for exact filming dates and street closings in town.
The Sturbridge market was a bit quiet in the first three months of the year. We are, however, seeing more activity as spring begins. Check back in early July for the report on the 2nd quarter of 2009.
