It's that time of the year again! Country Fair in Rancho Bernardo presented by Maranatha Chapel! Admission is free and so are the rides! Bring your kids and come early since it closes at 9am! They will be lots and lots of candy for kids! A great alternative to trick or treating.
After 3 years of recruiting agents, I find that most agents have the mentality that companies that take very little of their commission, like mine, are fly-by-night gags that provide little or no broker support. I guess their supicions are justified since there are these brokerage that charge very little and the broker is working full time somewhere else and just set up a real estate company for a quick buck.
I feel really unfairly judged because being an agent with a big company myself for 10+ years, I sincerely feel that brokers are making way too much money when the agents are doing most of the work. That was one of the main reason why I started my own company. You can ask any of my agents and they will tell you I am always available for them. When I was a new agent at this big company, they assigned me a "mentor", but 9 out of 10 times, he is not available for me. As agents, you will understand that a lot of times, you are in a situation and you need an answer right away! Yes, I am there for my agents, always just a cell phone call or email away.
How do I stay afloat in this down market when I am charging my agents so little, you ask...I keep my overhead very low...virtual office with conference rooms available. Most important, I AM NOT GREEDY! I feel strongly that agents work very hard for that commission and they should keep most of it. It sounds incredible in this world we live in, but it is TRUE!
Sorry folks...I just need to vent my frustrations...
I still remember when I first arrived in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego 11 years ago house hunting because my husband found a new job and we had to relocate to San Diego from Northern California. From the freeway, I saw this picturesque town with red roofs and trees. I immediately was excited about the move.
Rancho Bernardo is a small town, in the northern part of the city of San Diego. It is about 20 miles east from the beaches. You are in the suburbs, but you are never 20 minutes away from everywhere.
It is beautifully planned with greeneries everywhere. The downtown(one street) is designed so that all the commercial stuff are hidden from the street. Mind you, we have all the amenities here in downtown, different churches, a wonderful hospital(my son was born there), many banks, investment firms, supermarkets, great restaurants, hotels, even two, yes, two Starbucks. Oh we must not forget the golf courses, three of them in this little town!
The town started out a retirement paradise, and it's still is, but it has become a fabulous town to raise kids. Each subdivisions have their own community centers that come equipped with swimming pools, tennis courts, exercise rooms, etc. And the fees are nominal and most areas do not have mello roos.(compare with other newer master plan neighborhoods in San Diego where they pay a ridiculous amount of mello roos)
It is in the award-winning Poway school district which makes it a very desirable place for families.
We weren't thinking about schools when we moved here 11 years ago(my son is 7), but we loved the fact that our house is only less than 1 mile from my husband's work. The area is home to a bunch of companies such as Hewlitt Packard, Sony, Cymer, etc.
The people here are absolutely fabulous! They are friendly, curteous, patient. My neighbors are all wonderful. We have regular block parties.
We have been here 11 years now, and we would never think of leaving! We have great schools, our church is only minutes from our house, my son's best friends live next door...It is just a wonderful place to live!!
