Dear Katie,

Though it is an extremely tedious job constantly trying to find the best wines for our clients, tasting here and tasting there, we push through the hardships in hopes that we can introduce fabulous new wines to you! Here are some of our new wines at MyleStone, so come in and take a bottle or two home with you.

Sweetheart Wine Tasting!
February 5, 2010
5:30 until 7:30

Do you need ideas for that special someone or would you like to just get out of the house after a cold and frosty January? If so, come join us Friday, February the 5th for our first wine tasting of 2010. We are currently working on our tasting line-up, but we can guarantee a fun Friday evening right here in little Farmville. Please join us and receive 10% off any of our wines showcased in the tasting!

In case you did not know...

We have beer!! Though our selection is small, with direction and suggestions, we are slowly increasing our beer selection. We, of course, offer Farmville's own Duck Rabbit Brewery, but we also have North Carolina's Highland Gaelic Ale and Cottonwood Low Down Brown Ale. Besides our wonderful North Carolina brewed beers, we also carry varieties of Chimay, Dogfish Head, Flying Dog and Efes. Our latest addition to the beer selection is Red Seal from California. These are definitely must tries! If you have a certain beer that you would like us to get in, let us know. That is why we are here!

You say "Syrah," I say "Shiraz"
None-the-less, the grapes are the same. Syrah is typically the French version while Shiraz hails from South Africa and Australia. Shiraz is typically a medium to full bodied wine with hints of spice. Shiraz is great for grilled meats or veggies, wild game, richly flavored red meats, beef stew and meat lover's pizza. Our newest Shiraz is Mad Fish out of Western Australia and it is just divine...smooth and not too spicy. Any red wine drinker would appreciate this bottle!

A couple of dazzling whites...

When we first tasted the La Soeur Cadette 2008 Bourgogne Chardonnay, we were completely blown away by its creamy, perfectly balanced flavors. This is one of the most impressive Chardonnay's that we have in the shop. Our second new white is Seven Daughters, which contains seven different varietals of grapes. This is a perfect wine to drink by itself with a room full of friends.
Though the weather is chilly and you might want to lean towards the red wines, you can not go wrong with these two wonderful new additions to MyleStone.

Year of the Malbec

The Malbec varietal orginated in France, but is primarily used as a blending grape there. However, in Argentina and Chile, the Malbec grape has flourished and shines by itself. We are quite partial to Malbecs because they tend to be medium to full-bodied wines that are fruity and juicy. We have two new Malbecs, both from Mendoza, Argentina. The first is Budini and it is very fruit forward and juicy. At the other end of the spectrum, we have Decero which has the fruity, juicy qualities of the Malbec grape but has more developed tannins from 16 months in French Oak. We have also added a Tempranillo/Malbec blend, 2 Copas, from Argentina. This lovely wine has the earthy flavors of the Tempranillo varietal but the fruity and juicy highlights of the Malbec varietal. 2 Copas is Spanish for 2 wine glasses...never drink alone! Malbecs are great to drink by themselves or pair wonderfully with red meat dishes, especially Italian dishes with tomato sauces, mmmmmmmm!
