With Hurricane Ike making landfall early this morning, gas prices were on the rise as of yesterday. All over the media we are seeing prices escalate while folks were lined up at the pump. Well, Cookeville Tennessee is no different. Here is our review of gas prices and where to get gas cheap.

While, the average here now is $3.99 per gallon, the highest I saw was $4.99 which was right off the Interstate 40. That I have found, McGuggins still has the lowest ranging in at $3.89 per gallon for regular.

Over all, we are still holding pretty steady considering what I've heard in other parts of the US. Lets hope things level out soon or as far as Real Estate showings goes: "Just Looking, won't be, Just Fine"

Center Hill Lake is located minutes from Cookeville, Tennessee where the locals thrive during the summer months by house boating, fishing, camping and having fun! There are 3 gorgeous waterfalls and many excellent places to hike, swim, and camp. Also on the lake are 8 marinas, 5 restaurants, 1 state park, 9 Army Corps recreation areas, and the Joe L. Evins Appalachian Center for the Crafts.

Dale Hollow Dam. This dam is one of nine in the Nashville District that the US Army Corps of Engineers operates. Dale Hollow Dam is a "High Head" dam and does not have a lock for boaters, barges, etc. to pass through to the river side. Its primary function is flood control and Hydro-power, and recreation. Constructed in the 1940's, the hydro-power generators were put online in 1948 being the first hydro-power dam in the Nashville District.

• This ultra- clear lake and unspoiled shoreline holds many records and is famous for holding the world record for small mouth bass.

• Just down from the Cedar Hill Marina, is where the local's go to have fun! It's the Pleasant Grove Day area, but the locals call it the "Swinging Bridge". A popular swimming hole here at Dale Hollow provides picnicing, swimming, and lots of fun in the sun!
