On February 27th there will a grand opening event for a new Muvico Theater in Thousand Oaks. This is not your typical movie theaters but rather a much upscale version of it. If you are looking for something to do on Friday night write this in! In addition to enjoying a movie, the theater offers VIP seating, restaurants, a full-service bar (Now that's my kind of night), and a children's play area. I've never personally experienced this type of theater, but know someone who has and they just rave about it and say it's like no other.
The Grand Opening event begins at 7pm on Friday the 27th and goes through 9pm. There will also be Kid's Days on Saturday and Sunday if you are looking for a family-friendly event in Ventura this weekend. Please visit their website for additional details and movie showtimes.
I'm not sure about you, but I think I see a "girls night" in the near future! Food, drinks, and a movie - sounds like fun to me...

I love Ventura County! The picture to the left was taken on a beautiful December day at Silverstrand Beach in Oxnard. It was in the 80's that day and my family and I enjoyed some time at the beach. Coming from Hawaii I was so afraid of the "mainland weather", but was pleasantly suprised to learn that here in Ventura County we have what's called a Mediterranean climate. Basically, our winters are not too cold and our summers are not too hot. Perfect! The ocean however is substanially colder than my Hawaii beaches, I don't know how the kids can bear it...
Another beauty of living in Southern California is that you can drive for a couple hours and be in the mountains playing in snow!! A couple weekends ago my family and I drove out to Mountain High and we had a blast! It is so nice to live in a beautiful coastal community, but to have the option to drive and play in the snow, or ride through the deserts. I sure miss home, but I've come from one paradise to another!
(My little monkies)
One thing though, no matter how far I drive there is nothing like a true Hawaiian plate lunch. MMMmm, what I would give for Zip Pac from Zippy's in Hawaii.
Aloha from Ventura!
