Hideaway Lake....A Vacation Everyday!

Hideaway Lake is a wonderful lake community Located in Hideaway, TX. While I grew up in Lindale, Texas, which is just outside the gates of Hideaway, my husband grew up in Hideaway! In fact 20 years ago, Hideaway was not a city yet and was referred to as part of Lindale. We have many family members that live in Hideaway and I have certainly sold homes in Hideaway as well. Hideaway is a wonderful community with an array clubs, activities, and organizations. Demographics say that half the population is retired while the other half are young families.

Hideaway Lake Sign

Hideaway Lake Has 24 hour security and is nestled in the piney woods of East Texas. Just 20 minutes from Tyler, Texas and a hour and a half East of Dallas, Hideaway is so very convenient!

Front Gate of Hideaway

This private, gated community has approximately 2000 homes, 27 holes of golf, 3 lakes, a clubhouse, a library, a lodge, a beach, a marina, 4 parks, and so much more.

Middle Lake

The sunsets at the "Middle Lake" are great! Locals refer to this as the middle lake, as it is one of 3 lakes, and is the largest lake in Hideaway. The other 2 lakes are only fishing lakes and skiing is not allowed on those lakes. In all there is 235 acres of lakes in Hideaway making this a wonderful place to ski, tube, and fish! I learned to slalom ski on this very lake when I was about 13 years old!

Hideaway Lake Pool

The junior olympic sized swimming pool is a wonderful place to be in the hot summers in Texas. The pool overlooks the beach and middle lake. Lifeguards are on duty during pool hours.

Golf Course

The 27 hole golf course is one of the best courses in East Texas. The golf shop as well as driving range are headed by golf pro, Bud Gibbs.

Hideaway Lake is governed by a 12 member board for its homeowners. Recently, 6.2 million dollars were spent on community improvements such as a new clubhouse, golf course renovation, member services building, as well as 4 other community buildings.

Aren't We All Just A Collage - My First Post on AR!

I just finished uploading the background and header for my first blog post! Yes, this is a milestone! After 6 months of watching, commenting, and gleaning from my fellow AR bloggers I have decided to dance in the rain.....Active Rain that is! Mimi Foster was so great as direct me to Craig's Classroom where I was able to learn how to create a header and background. Alas I must confess, I enlisted the help of my 11 year old daughter, Matti! Together we created a header in Picnik!

I really began to think about the fact that we are all just collages, in one way or another. Think back to your first day in real estate. I remember mine...... I joined a local real estate firm in my small town of Lindale, TX. I came prepared with my laptop, file folders, pens, etc. I ordered my shiny new name badge and first 1000 business cards. I was well on my way, so I thought, until that first listing presentation came. I had worked so hard calling expired listings and telling everyone I knew I was in real estate. It finally hit me.....I didn't have a listing presentation! My excitement turned into sheer panic. I had to give a presentation in a couple of hours and wasn't sure what I was going to take with me as my presentation. Another REALTOR in my office at the time was so kind to sit down with me and talk about what the elements of a good presentation must contain. She sent me a copy of her presentation and I customized it to fit me. I added my specific comps and I went to my listing presentation. You know it's funny, I do not recall if I got the listing, but I vividly remember that agent sowing into me. I still have basically the same presentation. It's been tweaked of course, but the same bones are still there.

I remember the first offer I needed to make. I had a buyer ready to make an offer on a property. I was so excited! I told my buyer that I just needed to go back to the office and get it ready! Again, it hit me that I was unsure as to how to draft the offer. How many days should I put in that blank that says Option Period? How many days do I need on that Third Party Financing Addendum? Again, there was a kind agent in the office that was nice enough to sit down with me and go through the offer page by page. She was a major producer, and still is, but she took the time to sew into me as a new agent.

I have come to realize that I am really a collage of agents that have touched me in one way or another. Some are great memories and to be honest some are not, but they have made an impression on me all the same. I have learned and adapted from excellent agents and I have learned and adapted from some not so great agents. I choose to learn from every business deal. I have been in countless real estate classes and learned from world class people!

I truly believe I have a little piece of each "teacher" I have encountered. I have listened to world-class speaker Jim Rohn and love his material. If I just glean and apply one principal I have a little piece of Jim in a way. I also listen to Dave Ramsey and apply his principals (which are really just my grandmothers ideas re-ackaged..lol).

Jim Rohn

We are all collages in a way..... Carrying little pieces of those we encounter. I am so excited about all the new people I know I will meet here on Active Rain. My collage is going to be ever so colorful!
