Just let me say at the right from the start, this post has NOTHING to do with real estate! So if you only read real estate blogs here on AR for real estate, this post is not for you.
This was a REALLY good week for me as a sports fan. You see, I am a huge college basketball fan and more precisely I'm a HUGE Duke University fan, so I was thrilled that Duke won the national championship on Monday night. It was great to see such an "un-athletic" team made up of mostly Juniors and Seniors win the biggest prize of all again for the fourth time under a coach who isn't mired in any scandals and is the pinnacle of coaching, pro or collegiate! A very big win for the good guys!
I am also a huge golf fan and more precisely I'm a HUGE Phil Mickelson fan. So you can imagine my delight when my boy Phil goes and wins his third Masters title, all the while showing pure class and love for his family. It is good to see that there men out there that can perform at the highest level of their industry and STILL be a good and decent husband and father. It's nice to see a man getting headlines for being a tremendously talented athlete and for knowing what is truly important in this life. If you saw Phil and Amy after his big win, you know that Phil is one of the good guys.
It's really nice to see the good guys finishing first, because regardless of the stereotype, it proves to all of us, it can be done!
I will remember this week for a long, long time. A week where the good guys shined!
All the best until next time!

I mastermind with a good friend of mine who has a sports analogy for everything, and I mean everything! In our discussions about improving his business going forward he shared with me that this year his business motto is "NO FUMBLES." He simply means that no "Sniff" of a lead will be fumbled or overlooked or forgotten about.
Unfortunately my friend has a story or two about a sniff that he didn't follow up on during his career that turned into a deal for someone else. He doesn't want to have any more of those stories! None of us should. Now before you get too judgemental about him, what if I looked over your career? Any fumbles there? Of course there are, we've all done it. But what if we truly focused on every sniff we came across? Do you think that would make a difference in your business this year? I know it will in mine. So I also am adopting the "NO FUMBLES" battle cry. I WILL NOT FUMBLE ANY SNIFF THAT COMES MY WAY!
After having this discussion with my friend, I called him that night and told him my own sports motto for my business this year, which is "PRESS THE ACTION!" When it comes to lead generation for my business, I want to be like Magic Johnson bringing the ball upcourt, always pressing the action on the other team or like Marvelous Marvin Hagler stalking Tommy Hearns or Sugar Ray Leonard. I am going to "PRESS THE ACTION" for leads for my business in the same manner. No days where I don't find time for lead generation, no easing up on lead generation because I have deals, no just sitting around doing nothing as opposed to doing something, anything, searching for a new lead, because nothing in our business is more important than constant, every day lead generation!
And finally, I'd like to add one sports analogy to my year, "FOLLOW THROUGH" Do you remember the picture of Michael Jordan just standing there holding his follow through position after making the game winning shot? Have you ever seen the super slow motion shot of Tiger Woods' swing and marveled at his follow through after the ball is long gone? I vow this year to have that kind of "FOLLOW THROUGH" this year on all of my transactions!
Think about these 3 sports analogies in your business this year. What if you "PRESSED THE ACTION" every day for leads? What if you had "NO FUMBLES" on any sniff that came your way? What if you had perfect "FOLLOW THROUGH" on all your transactions? Do you think your business would be the better for it? Do you think you would close more transactions and garner more referrals? Of course we will! And that's why I write these down every day for myself in my journal and I hope you will too!
All the best until next time,
Kevin
