Fun for All at Edmond's Mitch Park

Edmond Parks

Yesterday proved to be a fabulous day in Edmond, Oklahoma. After an afternoon of meeting and greeting at an open house, I took advantage of the wonderful weather and walked the trail at Mitch Park. Mitch Park is in north of Covell Road between Santa Fe and Kelly next to Cheyenne Middle School. The main trail is 2.8 miles and meanders close to the park boundaries. There are another 1.8 miles of trails on the interior of the park. While strolling with my dog I quickly found my idea to visit the park was not an original one. I found Edmondites of all ages biking, walking and running. The playground was a bustle of activity. A group of men were playing basketball and another Frisbee golf. I saw a family trying out a new hobby of model plane flying and another family playing volleyball. Very soon the baseball and softball fields will be alive again (click for schedules.) There is plenty to do on a lazy spring afternoon at Mitch Park in Edmond, Oklahoma!

Ultimate Guide to Home Buying Week 2

Oklahoma MortgageAfter you have been able to sort through your needs and wants in your next Edmond home, the next step is to obtain a pre-qualification from a reputable lender. There are many lenders and mortgage brokers in the Oklahoma City area. I have had the opportunity to work with Jim Rapp of First Mortgage and Teresa Goodbary of MLC. Either of these individuals will give you excellent customer service. Click here for their contact information.

If you have already selected a lender, you may consider taking a moment to check the Implode-O-Meter for an up to date list of lenders on the watch list.

When you apply for a mortgage you should anticipate being asked to provide the following information;
1. SSN for all applicants
2. Residence address for past 2 years (landlord name, address & phone)
3. Name and address of each employer for past 2 years
4. Pay stubs for last 30 days & W-2's for last 2 years
5. Statements for last 2 months checking, savings, IRA, & 401K accounts
6. Name, address, account #s, balances & monthly payments for all open loan, credit card, & charge accounts
7. Divorce decree, bankruptcy, and discharge papers

What Color is Your Trash Can?

You have selected a home to buy. Your children will go to an Edmond Public School and you will have an Edmond address. Your new home must be in Edmond, right? Not necessarily. The boundaries for Edmond Schools and the city limits for Edmond do not match. The best way to determine if your new home is in Edmond or Oklahoma City is to look at the trash can (the one you will take to the curb each week). If it is a green trash can your new home is within the city of Edmond. If the trashcan is blue you will be living in Oklahoma City.

It will be an important time-saver when you set up utilities for your new home. For homes within the city of Edmond the electric, water, and sewer utilities all come from The City of Edmond gas from Oklahoma Natural Gas. Oklahoma City residents get electric and gas from OG&E and water and sewer from Oklahoma City. Visit the Concierge for guidance in establishing new utilities in both Edmond and OKC.
