1. Learn about the different types of foreclosure properties, and the foreclosure process. Contact The Halle Group (www.katiehalle.com) for more explanation on this one. 2. Secure financing early. It is important for a buyer to be pre-qualified before submitting an offer to a seller. You'll need a letter that states that you have the financial ability to purchase. Make sure that you are using a highly qualified lender that knows the market. It's volatile right now...you don't want a "here today, gone tomorrow" loan while you are trying to close! 3. Engage a real estate agent as a "buyer's representative." Most people hire an agent to sell their home. These "seller's representatives" are charged with making the sale and negotiating the best deal for their clients not for buyers. Call The Halle Group for superior buyer representation. 4. Do your homework. Stocks offer higher potential returns for investors than traditional savings programs, but are also riskier. Do your research on any foreclosure that interests you. Your buyer's agent should know what to do and how to help you. 5. Make a realistic offer. Despite what you may see on late-night cable TV, investing in foreclosure properties isn't a sure-fire "get rich quick" formula. Lenders aren't likely to give properties away.
