Jewelry Workshop with Geralyn Tagatac Wednesday, June 18, 2008 @ 7:00 pm

A hands-on Jewelry Workshop. Geralyn Tagatac, of Geralyn Jewelry, will teach you how to design, string and finish a beautiful piece of hand-crafted jewelry. Participants will have the choice of making a necklace, or a set consisting of a bracelet and earrings. Using a variety of different beads, including semi-precious stones, glass and wood beads, and gold and silver plated beads, Geralyn will introduce you to several different techniques. You will be limited only by your imagination - let your creativity flow!

Class size is limited to 15, and registration is required. An $8 Materials Fee is payable to Geralyn at the program.

I took this class a few months ago with my niece, had a wonderful time and wear my necklace often. It's amazing how relaxing stringing beads can be.

The Art of Hand Tied Bouquets with Michael Derouin

Join floral expert, Michael Derouin, for this fantastic hands-on class. Michael's classes are an excellent opportunity to learn practical and creative ideas for floral design that you can use in your own home. Soon we will all (hopefully!) have beautiful flowers blooming in our own gardens - wouldn't you like to know what to do with them? Michael has years of experience and is a wealth of knowledge - why not learn from the best?!

In this class, you will design and create a hand tied bouquet of beautiful fresh flowers. This bouquet will be appropriate to place into a small vase (participants are asked to provide their own vase - so bring your favorite!) Please also bring your own pruning shears and/or cutting tools to class.

Class size is limited to 20, and registration is required. Michael Derouin, is an award winning nationally recognized floral and event designer. A materials fee of $15 (cash please) is payable to Michael on the day of the event.

GARDEN TO WOK: Growing & Cooking Chinese Vegetables
Cooking Demonstration with Norma Chang

Wednesday, May 21, 2008 @ 7:00 pm at the Woodbridge CT Town Library


Let Norma Chang, The Traveling Gourmet, introduce you to the joy of gardening. Learn which Chinese vegetables are suitable for growing in your area, their cultural requirements, when to harvest and how to store to maintain optimum quality. There will be a "Show-&-Tell" of available vegetables and a cooking demonstration with tasting will be part of the program.

Norma Chang is a certified Master Gardener, and is the author of several Chinese cookbooks including Wokking Your Way to Low Fat Cooking. This event is free and open to the public. Space is limited, and registration is required.

Strawberry Festival in Woodbridge CT June 13, 2008

Save the date! Friday, June 13, 2008 The First Church of Christ in Woodbridge will hold its annual strawberry festical from 6 to 8 p.m. on the green at the church on Meetinghouse Lane.

The cost of a complete meal is $10.00 and will include burgers or veggie burger, hot dogs, salad, chips, drinks and of course topped off with a homemade strawberry shortcake! If you prefer the strawberry shortcake alone (or would like seconds!) the price is $5.00.

Entertainment by The Fiddleheads New Haven's venerable contra dance band will be playing old-time fiddle and banjo.

All proceeds will benifit the church and its programs.
