Concord is the current home to Lowe's Motor Speedway; a NASCAR Research and Development Office; several professional race teams, including Hendrick Motorsports, Roush Fenway Racing, and Chip Ganassi Racing.

The educational system includes both private and public schools, in secondary and higher education. Concord is served by the Cabarrus County Schools system. For post-secondary education, residents may choose from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Cabarrus College of Health Sciences and only a few miles to the south, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Shopping is ample in the charming downtown, with merchants offering antiques, fine collectibles, arts and crafts, and almost any other merchandise a shopper might desire. Concord is also home to the large retail venues of Carolina Mall and Concord Mills Mall, just minutes away from Lowes Motor Speedway.

The Town’s history can be traced back to the mid to late 1700’s, of which the current location of the Town was part of an Indian trading route from present-day Petersburg, Virginia to the Waxhaw Indian settlement located near the Town’s present location. For many years after initial settlement during the late 1700’s and early to mid 1800’s, the Town was primarily an agricultural settlement. The first post office in the Town was established in 1861. In 1907, the Town of Indian Trail was formally incorporated. Since that time, the Town has gone from a predominantly rural agricultural settlement into a fast-growing Town of approximately 26,000 people, based on recent statistics.
