News Release
The public is invited to a second Open House for the Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail on Monday, March 9, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Edina City Hall.
Background
Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail will travel through Hopkins, Edina and Richfield. As proposed the regional trail will connect to the popular Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail in Hopkins to the Minneapolis Grand Rounds trail network in Minneapolis and the Minnesota River Valley in Bloomington. Regional trails are typically 10 feet wide, paved and used by bicyclists, walkers, runners, in-line skaters, dog-walkers and other non-motorized users.
Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail will be developed and operated by Three Rivers Park District. When completed, Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail will be part of Three Rivers Park District ís regional trail network, which currently features more than 90 miles of trail and allows for off-road trail use across Hennepin County.
Three Rivers Park District and the City of Edina are in the process of identifying and assessing potential trail routes through Edina. Two of the primary goals of the trail are to connect to the Edina High School campus and the newly created Edina Promenade near Centennial Lakes.
There are several routes under consideration, including alignments adjacent to roads and alignments adjacent to Nine Mile Creek.
Download a map of the alignments reviewed at the Wednesday, February 11 open house.

Feedback from this open house will help determine which alternative routes will be forwarded to the next open house planned for Monday, March 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Edina City Hall and which, if any, alternative trail routes will be removed from consideration.
An updated map will be available on this website during the first week in March.
Three Rivers Park District and the City of Edina thank you for your interest and feedback in this project. For more information, please contact Kelly Grissman, Planner with Three Rivers Park District at 763-694-7635.

Bowling with Love Family Event
Are you planning on sending your kids to playground program this year? Maybe going to the Edina pool? Or giving them the freedom to ride their bikes to a friend's house? I know I am looking forward to this summer (especially now!) when the kids have the opportunity to hang out with their friends at the parks. I always think of these simple pleasures as the "Best Deals" around! But for many families in Edina this is not the case. They simply don't have the resources to give their kids this. Or their kids are not physically able to do the same things. What can we do to help our neighbors? We can go bowling! The Van Valkenburg Children's Fund is holding its first annual "Bowl For Love" to raise money for our kids in Edina. For $30.00 per ticket, you can bowl with friends and neighbors, and the money will send 1 child to the playground program. Last year the Van Valkenburg Fund gave out over $7,000.00 in scholarships to low income families. We are anticipating an even higher need this year.
Make a difference and memories with your family as you bowl with love. Your family will learn that giving really can be fun! The money raised from this event will go to the Van Valkenburg Children's Fund, which provides youth scholarships for Edina Park and Recreation summer programs and adaptive programs, Summer of Opportunity YMCA scholarships and other youth programs in Edina. Enjoy giving back to your community as a family.
