Vino Jazz Festival Returns to Simi Valley Town Center
Saturday, Sept. 12th 4-9pm
Simi Valley Town Center, 1555 Simi Town Center Way
Renowned violinist Karen Briggs, longtime touring partner for Yanni, to headline major fund-raiser to support the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Foundation
The Vino Jazz Festival will return to Simi Valley Town Center on Sept. 12 to raise funds for cultural arts in the community. The Simi Valley Cultural Arts Foundation's major fund-raiser, to be headlined by world class jazz violinist Karen Briggs, has previously attracted more than 1,000 attendees.
"It was tough last summer when there was no Vino Jazz Festival anywhere, and even tougher to keep quiet that it was coming back. It's become a very popular event in town and in the region."
Tickets for the sixth Vino Jazz Festival are now available for $50. Participating wineries and additional performers are still being finalized, said Carol Anderson, executive director of the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Foundation.
"We're making adjustments according to what we heard from past attendees, and plan to make the evening even more enjoyable," Anderson said. "It's hard to go wrong with the beautiful outdoor setting at twilight, with fine wine and jazz, among friends raising funds for a good cause."
For tickets or information, call (805) 583-7900 or email artscenter@simivalley.org.
Karen Briggs is a well-known, diverse violinist who has performed with Diana Ross, Wynton Marsalis, Soul II Soul, En Vogue, the Wu Tang Clan, Chaka Khan and Kenny Loggins, among others. Briggs' improvisational abilities allow her to delve into various musical styles, from jazz to R&B to symphonic orchestra, gospel and even rap.
