I have an exciting update to share with you regarding PETA's efforts to encourage the airline industry to refuse shipments of primates destined for cruel experiments.
After learning that TAM and Hainan Airlines were each facilitating shipments of monkeys to laboratories in North America, PETA fired off urgent letters to each company urging it to join the growing number of airline and cargo companies that refuse to handle such shipments. Our supporters also sprang into action, and many of you sent messages to these airlines urging them to prohibit the transportation of primates for use in experiments.
I am excited to announce that TAM and Hainan Airlines have both recently stated that they will no longer transport primates for use in experiments.
This victory was possible only because we joined together and spoke out in behalf of animals who are abused and killed in laboratories. Please continue to urge the few remaining airlines that ship primates to laboratories—including Air France, China Eastern Airlines, and Continental Airlines—to stop facilitating this cruelty.
