2008 San Antonio Parade of homes ~ Recap

This Saturday was a hot & busy day in San Antonio to attend the 2008 Parade of Homes. The parade of homes was held this year just off Bulverde road in San Antonio, Texas in the Palacios neighborhood. Homes ranged from 1.2 million to 3 million.

This being the FIRST ever Green parade of Homes San Antonio has ever had there were many vendors on hand to assist with questions on how you can "go green". The biggest benefit of going green (besides the earth & your health) is the savings it provides your pocket as you can save tons on your utility bill & overall home maintenance.

The home builders & their magnificent homes this year were:

Jack Uptmore Custom Homes

Dale Sauer Homes

Summit Homes by Andrea Carol

Bridle Bit Custom Homes

Greenwood Custom Homes

Kyle Lindsey Custom Homes

Mike Hollaway Custom Homes

Genesis Custom Homes &

Don Craighead homes.

The day was hot, the people were plenty & the homes were fantastic. Parking was FAR but they shuttled visitors back & forth to the neighborhood.

All well worth the visit. My favorite was Mike Halloways 4,533 sq. ft home with the beautiful backyard. The master bathroom in this home has a built in coffee bar as well as a double-entry shower and can be yours for 1.395 million. I guess after spending that much money it will be nice to save a couple of bucks on your utility bill.

I am woman...Hear me ROAR...

GRRRRRRRR.  I got completely pumped when I received an email today about women voting or shall I say not voting?

History is being made here ladies (chicas, women, girls, sisters)...let's make sure we are part of it! >

Remember?  If you will...it wasn't until 1920 that women were "given" the right to vote.

Women before us picketed the white house and were JAILED for carrying signs asking for the right to VOTE!

This started the infamous "night of terror" November 15, 1917 where 33 women stayed in prison without water because they DARED to picket Woodrow Wilson's White House for the right to vote.

Can you imagine?  What would those 33 women who fought so hard for WE WOMEN to waste away our right to vote?  to look at it as an OBLIGATION or an INCONVENIENCE...to forget to do it altogether?

I know you have houses to sell and deadlines to meet but HOWEVER & WHOMEVER you vote for, make sure you do.

GRRRRRRR........ In the words of Helen Reddy......

GRRRRRRRR.

Your next home is a click away...

USA Today had an article Friday about websites the consumer uses to access information about homes of interest to them. The article listed 5 websites. Of the 5 I had heard of 2 of them. Being a Realtor I use MLS but found it interesting to learn about what the consumer uses other than Realtor.com. Here's some info on the USA Today listed:

Have you heard of?

Zillow.com - I had heard of and used zillow.com to compare the accuracy of information. I believe it to be fairly accurate. If you get in areas where there are varying amounts of data - your data can be skewed.

Redfin.com - Redfin actually sells Real Estate being an online brokerage. Redfin is not available in most metro areas.

Realtor.com - I think this one MOST individuals have heard of and is the most common out of the 5.

HotPads.com - New to me. Great website to find homes to Rent or to buy.

Last but not least...PropertyShark.com - get details about prior sales, demographics of the neighborhood, etc. PropertyShark.com is from M-F from 3 to 6 only.

It is true most home buyers start their search on the internet. There is a plethora of information on each of these websites but the consumer can spend hours going through it. A good realtor would be able to get you specifics in just a few minutes with just a few clicks.
