Get Out and Enjoy - Taste of Rancho Santa Margarita - April 19th


The City of Rancho Santa Margarita is hosting a great event on April 19th, between 4pm and 8pm. Entrance into the event is Free, yummy tastings from local restaurants will be sold from a $1.00 on up.

The Rotary Club of Coto de Caza/Rancho Santa Margarita will host a Beer and Wine Garden at the event.

As guests nibble away they will also want to check out the Go GREEN Expo. This educational showcase will allow attendees to learn about the products and services offered locally that promote a greener lifestyle.


Stop in to the Bell Tower for the “After Taste” and listen to the funky sounds of the 1970's at a fundraising event to benefit Rotary del Sol and their local charities, including the Bell Tower Foundation. Women Helping Women Clothing Drive - Got Stuff!

I stumbled across an organization that is doing good work in Orange County and am excited to help.

Women Helping Women is an Orange County non-profit that provides services to approximately 2,000 low-income clients each year, helping them attain and sustain employment and reach self-sufficiency. All services are provided FREE OF CHARGE, including professional business apparel and accessories, computer classes, life skills workshops, and employment support services - resume building, job placement, and mock interview sessions.

From March 20th-April 20th in Portola Hills, we will be holding a Clothing Drive to support Women Helping Women!

Items needed:

  • Suits, Blazers, Slacks, Skirts, Dresses
  • Blouses, Sweaters, Dress Shirts
  • Dress Shoes, Purses, Totes, Scarves, Belts, Jewelry
  • Bras, Slips, Pantyhose, Knee Highs, Trouser Socks

Today, I woke up and feeling a bit stressed, I needed good news. Thank God, my Bible was handy. I then pull up the local paper just to get a snapshot of what is happening today and these are the headlines.

  • Dancing ends for two stars

Really are these the top news stories in Orange County, is there any glimmer of hope. Let’s dig and I mean dig for some good news.

  • 77% think it is time to house hunt, do you.
  • Pending home sales jump 109% with lowest level of inventory since April 07
  • Mortgage Application Spike in Latest Weekly Survey

Ahh, there is some good news.

This is why I blog, this is why I read blogs because I have to take the media out of “my picture”. I know I can become a news junky, but I also know it is not healthy. I need to be refreshed, I need to know there is hope. The above positives are glimmers of hope yet they were hidden, why because we all know hope does not sell papers.

In this industry we are often criticized for being overly optimistic, not realist. Believe me I don’t think you couldn’t ask any Realtor out there if they aren’t being “real” these days. But with the constant negative headlines thrown at us, we have to stay positive just to keep our sanity! Plus there is good news…..

I am convinced if we report the facts, stay positive, excel in our levels of professionalism the good will shine through. Make sure to continue to write about the good things that are happening in your area, we can change the perception!

Lake Forest to hold Two Important Housing Updates

The City of Lake Forest is holding two important events regarding housing in the next couple of weeks that you won’t want to miss. First is the final update on the Opportunities Study and the second is a Housing Element meeting.

The Opportunities study.

  • Monday March 31st @ 7:00 pm @ Portola Hills Elementary School 19422 Saddleback Ranch Road, Lake Forest
  • Monday April 14th @7:00 pm @ El Toro High School, 25255 Toledo Way, Lake Forest

This study was undertaken to take advantage of an opportunity to re-zone nearly 800 acres of vacant land on six properties in Lake Forest. It's the last opportunity for the city to shape what future development will look like, so the City is taking a proactive role in looking at the features residents have said they want most.

2008 Housing Element:

  • March 27, 2008 @ 7:00pm @ Lake Forest City Hall
  • April 1, 2008 @7:00 pm @ Lake Forest City Hall

The Housing Element is a meeting required by state law that requires the city to provide a general update every five years. These meetings cover the years from 2006-2014. At these meetings, the Planning Commission and City County will review the Draft 2008 Housing Element prior to submittal of the document for review by the State Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD).
