Scripps Gateway is a retail section in Scripps Ranch that has two hotels, restaurants, a gas station and a commercial business. It is located east of route 15 off the Mercy Road/Scripps Poway on Route 15.

Directions: From Route 15, exit at Mercy Rd/Scripps Poway Pkwy and head east. At first traffic light, make a left into center.

The Scripps Ranch Farmers Market is one of the largest and most successful farmers markets in San Diego. There are usually an average of 50 vendors or more each weekend that sell a variety of food, arts, crafts, produce and business services. It is held year-round every Saturday from 9am - 1pm and is located on the grounds of the former Ellen Browning Scripps Elementary School at 10380 Spring Canyon Road (on the corner of Scripps Poway Parkway and Spring Canyon Road).

Upon entering, you will find arts, crafts, clothing, shoes and jewelry vendors lining the main entrance. Near the back, you will find the produce, food and live entertainment. Enjoy eating breakfast or lunch under the covered seating pavilion. Musicians perform every Saturday and occasionally entertainers will walk around and interact with the crowd. A large number of vendors carry a variety of foods from around the world (French, Mexican, Greek, etc.) that will satisfy your entire family.

The Farmers Market wouldn't be complete without fresh produce and flowers from our local growers. Fruits, vegetables and eggs can be found every weekend for unbelievably low prices. Be sure to check out the beautiful selection of flowers available at great bargains!

For the kids, there is a Kids Fun Zone that has a blow-up slide and a moon bounce. The cotton candy and shaved ice stand is located nearby. Don't have any children? Bring your pet to make new friends as they are always welcome!

Scripps Ranch Marketplace is a local community center located off Scripps Poway Parkway in the Scripps Ranch Area. It's convenient location from Route 15 makes it a popular place to grocery shop, bank or dine. There are 44 places of business (two vacant as of 7/13/08) within the Marketplace complex.

Miramar Overlook Park is a great place to have a family picnic, birthday party or just enjoy a beautiful San Diego day. The park is maintained by the City of San Diego Park & Recreation Department. There are three covered pavilions with seating, two play areas with sand and restroom facilities. Parking is limited so it is not recommended for large gatherings since there is no overflow parking available (parking is prohibited on Scripps Ranch Blvd.) The pavilions are on a first-come first-serve basis and cannot be reserved through the Park & Recreation Department so it is advised to get to there early if you are planning an important event (the last time I checked, the park opens at sunrise and closes at sunset).

The view from the park is absolutely beautiful. Depending on the weather conditions, to the south and southeast, you will be able to see a portion of Miramar Reservoir (shown below), the City of San Diego, Point Loma, Tijuana and the Coronado Islands. To the east, views of the Pacific Ocean are visible on a clear day, especially when the Santa Ana winds are present.
