Lexington KY - Kentucky Horse Park - 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games
The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington Ky is really beefing up it's presence for the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games. New widened roads, barns, and the new indoor arena are all part of the plan.
I was volunteering this past weekend for the Vaulting Event that was a pre-view of was was to come for Lexington KY. We were there to practice for the big event next year.
Another event to practice was a Reining Event the week before. Not everything is finished as you drive through the Kentucky Horse Park you can see that barns are still being built next to the arena. Also a new lane is being installed on the I-75 exit there on Ironworks Road.

This is the place to go if you love horses and want to see what different breeds there are. The 24 different breeds are on display in the Breeds Barn.
A Hall Of Champions includes famous race horses like Cigar and Funny Cide. They are shown daily in presentations.
Be sure to check out the International Museum of the Hose and National saddlebred Museum at the Kentucky Horse Park. Exhibits are on display.

This is a picture of the new indoor arena. It is part of the new construction that will be used for the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games.

These young riders were a part of the vaulting event waiting for the presentations to the winners.
Many people are relocating to Kentucky to be closer to horses. Lexington KY is "The Horse Capital of the World."

Jerzees Cocktail Lounge - Comedy Club Richmond KY
I had the pleasure of checking out the grand opening of a new cocktail lounge in Richmond KY called Jerzees. Not only is it a lounge, but the night I was invited there...there was a comedy club act also.
As far as I can remember, there has never been a comedy club in Richmond KY. It's about time! Awesome idea!

Back in the 60's this downtown building was an A&P store on 122 Main Street. It's located about a block west of the court house.
The layout and decor is perfect for a cocktail lounge. Justin Waggoner and Bryson Alford have put together the perfect combination of talent and creativity to launch Jerzees.
Jerzees is a cocktail lounge that is great for all types of patrons. There was a blend of all ages the night I was there for the comedy club debut.
Wednesday nights are country/ western night with live entertainment. Check out the pool tables too for a chance to practice your skills.

The next comedy club date will be Aug. 28th.
Buy tickets and reserve your table online.
Jerzees is closed on Sun - Tues.
OPEN: Wed -Sat 8PM - 1AM.
Check out Jerzees website.

Chick-Fil-A Richmond Centre Richmond Ky Grand Opening
Richmond KY finally has a Chick-Fil-A in the Richmond Centre! I happened to drive by the night before the grand openingand witnessed all the hoopla.
The Chick-Fil-A parking lot was wall to wall with tents filled with prospective customers that wanted to be one in a hundred that would be fed a free meal once a week for a year. To do this you have to be in line before they open the door at 6:30 AM.
So devoted fans pitch a tent, armed with sleeping bags, tents, blankets, games, ipods and books and wait it out. Many Richmond KY fans were right in the mix will the die hard fans that follow every Chick-Fil-A grand opening across the USA.
They battle the elements to be in line. I think this group got rained on in the early morning hours. When I stopped by, they were dancing the Hokey Pokey being led by the Chick-Fil-A cow.
I loved the vehicle in the lot that said, "Eat more chickin". I snapped a pic of the back end.
My Mom is a huge fan of Chick-Fil-A but she didn't plan on sitting in a tent all night for the grand opening. She'll pick up her chickin the easy way at the drive thru!
It sure is nice to have a few good places to go to in Richmond Centre. I think the next ones will be Olive Garden and Panara Bread.

Richmond KY is really starting to expand on exit 87 off I-75. To have the Richmond Centre nearby to housing will be easy to walk to shopping, theaters and restaurants.
The grand opening of the Chick-Fil-A in Richmond KY is a welcome addition! YUM!

Paddy Wagon Irish Pub Richmond Kentucky is the place to have fun.
Third time is charm for the owners, Greg Ferrell and Chuck Fields.
Established in 2004 on Water Street...then Paddy Wagon Irish Pub moved to Main Street in 2006 for a year a few doors up from the new location still in Richmond KY.
Then suddenly it burned to the ground in the middle of the night.
The famous fire is still one of Richmond KY's unexplained mysteries.

Fire investigators scratched their heads in puzzlement as to the cause.
"Hmmmm...It could be this...or could be that." Who really knows what caused Paddy Wagon Irish Pub to burn to the ground. Or do fires burn up? Whatever the case... it has remained a mystery in Richmond KY.
All that was saved that fateful night from the pub was an Irish clock, 1 sign and a few police patches.
Both Greg and Chuck teach criminal justice at EKU so the patches were a collection of police patches that patrons donated when they visited Paddy Wagon.
I've been in bars that have unique collections of $1 bills(Tortilla Flat, AZ), neckties(Carefree, AZ) and bras(Key West).
The idea for the Irish pub came from a trip to Ireland when they toured the Guinness Factory, Dublin and to the north...Belfast. Armed with information and local souvenirs Chuck came up with the décor for the inside of Paddy Wagon Irish Pub.
The name of the pub has to do with criminal justice. Maybe Irish justice?
Now open since June 26, 2008 with a plethora of beer and ale for anyone's tastes or mood. The food is great...I had a generous helping of the fish and chips and the service was spot on.
There is a friendly atmosphere inside Paddy Wagon Irish Pub and plenty of room to park outside. Sip your beer on an outdoor deck and enjoy a Richmond KY downtown view.

Live band entertainment is on Friday and Saturday. Thursdays will be added when school starts. Monday is open mike.
Hours are 11 - 1PM Monday - Friday. Saturdays 12 - 1PM.
