Handy Dandy Tips Using a Sheet of Bounce

I received these helpful tips in an e-mail and I thought my readers would find this useful as well. Who knew there were so many uses for a dryer sheet?! You'll be suprised at the variety of things a little sheet of Bounce can be used for.

  • It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.

Mouse

  • To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.

  • Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling

  • It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.

  • It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.

  • Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.

  • Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.

Car

  • Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.

  • To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.

  • Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down your car, and wipe lovebugs off easily with the wet Bounce.

  • Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.

  • Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.

  • Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan.

Cookies

  • Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket

  • Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.

  • Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.

  • Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.

  • Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the lose hairs.

Kitty Cat

  • Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.

  • Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.

  • Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.

  • Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.

Golf

I must admit that I haven't tried any of these out yet, so if you have I would love to hear your feedback as to whether or not it actually works! Just leave me a comment about your experience.

Georgia Renaissance Festival

The Georgia Renaissance Festival is here every weekend from now until June 7, 2009. If you have never been to this festival before it's a ton of fun and has something for everyone to enjoy. Some of the shows include:

Renaissance Festival

  • All the King's Horses: an exhibit of some very fine and elegant horses that dance along to music
  • Cast in Bronze: this group plays music on five tons of cast bronze bells--some of their gigs have been playing for the Pope, President Bush, on the radio and on the Today Show
  • Dextre Tripp: a show full of comedy, extra-tall unicycling and precision whip cracks
  • Flying Debris Show: ladder balancing, rope tricks, juggling and more!
  • Birds of Prey: hawks, owls and falcons are the stars of this show
  • The Joust!: And what most people come to the festival to see--two knights on horses compete with various weapons

Joust

If you're in the mood for a snack or even a meal, the Georgia Renaissance Festival has a variety of choices to choose from. Of course, you simply must have one of their Smoked Turkey Legs--it just wouldn't be right if you didn't! Other interesting items are: macaroni and cheese on a stick (I'd like to see how they do that!), Toad-in-a-Hole (what in the world is that?), a lot of fried foods from pickles to mushrooms, funnel cake (what festival would be complete without that?!), belgian waffles and so much more. Also, in case you're looking for a little adult fun, they do serve beer, wine and margaritas!

Turkey Leg

Additional fun includes various games and rides and a market with over 150 different artisans selling their wares and doing demonstrations from weaving and glass blowing to leather crafting and sculpting. Wordless Wednesday: 900 Year Old Oak Tree

Super Old Oak Tree

This photo was taken at the Middleton Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina. The plantation guides told us the tree is about 900 years old!! Some of the limbs are being held up and supported by cables!

Mexican Chicken Casserole

It seems like lately I've been making a variety of chicken casseroles, maybe I need to branch out more, but they're just so easy and very cost effective. Because it's just the two of us we always have leftovers, which although I'm not a huge fan of, they do make our grocery budget go farther.

This one is a Mexican Chicken Casserole by my favorite cook (you already know I'm going to say Paula Deen don't you?!). Well this one is cheesy, creamy, delicious and really quick to make--from assembly to oven to table is only about 40 minutes!

Mexican Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 10.75 oz. can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 10.75 oz. can Cheddar cheese soup
  • 1 10.75 oz. can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 10 oz. can Ro-Tel tomatoes
  • 1 whole chicken, cooked, boned and chopped or 4 Cups leftover cooked chicken
  • 1 11.5 oz. package flour tortillas
  • 2 Cups shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, stir together the three kinds of soup and the tomatoes. Stir in the chicken.
  2. In a greased 13x9 inch pan, layer the tortillas and chicken mixture, beginning and endgin with tortillas.
  3. Sprinkle cheese over the casserole and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

This delicious dish serves 8 people. I served it with a hot spinach and artichoke dip that complimented it well. Hope you enjoy this! A great one to make for the family!
