After reading the following post by Lizette Fitzpatrick, http://activerain.com/blogsview/770679/A-November-Evening-At-The-Kentucky-River-Palisades, I was almost hesitant to share my Fall Fotos of Lake Anna but here goes.

If (seriously, no pressure Best Friend) you would like to see more pictures of Lake Anna please check out one of my other posts, http://activerain.com/blogsview/781559/My-Active-Rain-Eyes-Got-an-Eyeful, and you will see why I had such a good time that afternoon.

Are many of us really looking forward to winter? I do and I don't...mostly don't. However, year after year it shows up anyway right after fall.
Ah, fall. Last Friday my husband,, Jim and I took our Tritoon out for a cruise. We were headed to Sturgeon Creek Marina to have "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" detailed.*
Having been on Active Rain long enough to know that one goes nowhere, absolutely nowhere, without a camera I of course had mine.
A total of 217 pictures where taken during out five mile cruise. Wait a minute, how could that possibly happen. Well, all you need are the following:

Reflections in the Water Doubling the Spectacular Colors

and Images
Loads of Pretty Waterfront Homes
Absolutely Beautiful Blue Water

Boat Houses Galore Just Sitting Around Posing
An Ocassional Fellow Boater
and a Hubby that has the Patience Needed When Married to an Avid Amateur Photographer
plus
all the Time in the World to Leisurely Drift Along
and
a Camera with a Quick Shutter, Wide Angle Lens, and a Mighty Zoom**
Not one of these pictures was digitally enhanced in any way (no auto contrast, color saturation, sharpness tweaking or anything else) other than cropping. It was definitely a day made for anyone infatuated with photography.
Both of us were so pleased with the time we had and the natural beauty of Lake Anna.
There are many reasons Jim and I love living at Lake Anna. Hopefully these pictures will help to convey to you just what Lake Anna means to us each and every season.
Many people think it is the place to be in the summer. Well, you certainly can have lots of fun here than but the fun and good living extend well beyond the summer season.
Lake Anna is definitely a place for year round enjoyment. Come and see for yourself.
*The story, and there is a story, behind our "Unsinkable Molly Brown" will appear on here one of these days.

Who knew posting on Active Rain could do this for you. It has created a whole new business for me and it has little to do with real estate.
A short time ago I received a message from someone via Active Rain.
A friend of mine will be retiring from the Federal Gov't after 39 years. She and her husband have a home at Lake Anna. I would like to gift a tree, plant or anything for her outside area that would be a hardy selection. I've never been to their home but believe it has mostly pines on the property..I'm sure you are familiar with that area. Thank you for your help and suggestions.
Naturallly I followed up and that resulted in a few messages back and forth. This morning I received the following:
The time is approaching for my friend and I to purchase the tree that we would like to give as a retirement gift. I know stock is limited this time of year...but do you have any type Cherry trees available?
Ah, ha! The light bulb went off. I was not contacted because I was a REALTOR®, I was contacted because of my post, http://activerain.com/blogsview/645424/A-Colorful-Visit-to-Lake-Anna-Nursery.

Thus the power of Active Rain proves itself again. In my book, a contact is a contact, is a contact. Naturally I will be sharing this with the owners of Lake Anna Nursery and other business owners around the lake.
This will show them the power of blogging, the importance of Active Rain, and how their local REALTOR®, Kate Elim, is spreading the word not only about Lake Anna but the services they offer.

It is exactly 50 years ago that I became old enough to vote for the President of the United States. That was in 1958 when I turned 21. I had to wait two years in order to exercise that right.
This year, 2008, there are actually two days when I can express my preference. On February 12th I voted in the primary here in Virginia. It was the first time that I was ever voted for a woman for president.
I did not vote for just any woman. My vote went to someone that I believed was more than capable of holding that high office. I still do. My candidate did not survive the primaries and the caucases. My feeling of loss was deep and sincere.
Much has happened since I cast my vote. During that time I had an opportunity to learn more about my candidates opponent. Through this process I became more and more comfortable with his capabilities also.
Now that we are only five days away from my second opportunity to vote, I am equally excited to cast my ballot.
Fifty years ago I had no idea that I would be making two historical votes in 2008. What a proud and grateful American I am.
Please remember to exercise your right to vote.
It is your choice, it is your right and it is your responsibility.
Yesterday I was at the post office and saw a farm across the road with Halloween decorations
that I liked. While taking some pictures I noticed how pretty the flag in front of the
post office looked against the sky. Little did I know when taking this photo that I would
be writing a post today about my voting opportunities this year.
You never know what you may see when you are out and about so keep that camera right by your side

Listing Agreements and Buyer Agency Agreements are different.
Very often when the conversation revolves around the use of the Buyer Agency Agreement form the topic of the Listing Agreement comes up. The argument is if you require a listing agreement you should require a buyer agency agreement.
When owners are ready to put their property on the market it generally means they have lived in the area for a while. They have had an opportunity to notice REALTOR® signs, advertisements, and offices. Perhaps they even knows some agents personally or been referred to them by friends and neighbors. The potential seller often has some background knowledge of some agents or at least offices. Even then, many sellers interview 2-3 agents. They have the opportunity to meet with them, learn more about their experience, their marketing plans, and get a feeling about their personalities. They try to make an assessment if this is someone they would like to work with or not.
Most buyers in my location are from out of the area. Most of them do not come via referrals. They do not know any agents. Not a one. How are they going to know who they want to work with? It is very possible that they need to spend some time with an agent to determine if this is the one that suits them. Do you consider that an imposition?
Consider the first time out as an audition.
Remember, if the audition goes great chances are you will get the job. I'm comfortable with that.
Are you?
