Got my local weekly paper today. Yup I live in a place so small that we still have a weekly newspaper. And I knew there was a gas war going on in my town because the local Ingles Supermarket had recently added gas pumps, but really I hadn't even thought about it until I read the headline that said Putnam County Georgia has the lowest gas prices in the nation!
I hope you can see the price. It's $1.759. And I missed the low this morning. Today it actually got to $1.67. Now I'd really love to see 79 cents a gallon again, but for now I'll take $1.759. As you can see when I took this photo today there were also long lines waiting for gas. I have no idea how long this gas war will continue, but for now when I drive by the ingles or walmart I'll be keeping a full tank.
So how much are you paying for gas?
If you live anywhere within 40 or so miles of Eatonton, Georgia or will be traveling down 441 on Friday to head to the Georgia Florida game... Ingles is located at the intersection of US Hwy 441 & GA Hwy 16. The wal-mart is at the corner of US Hwy 441 and US Hwy 129 just two miles south of Ingles. So if you are traveling this way or live close ... wait until you get here for a fill up.
And if you are looking for a great deal on a lake house call me!

This was the view I got from dinner last week. It as one of those days when you've worked really hard and late and walk into your kitchen and ugh, you just do not want to make dinner.
Thankfully Bone Island Gill At the Crooked Creek Marina is close by and my husband agreed that dinner out was the perfect plan.
It was still warm enough last Thursday evening that we actually ate out on the covered porch, we got to enjoy the boats and the view and saw lots of friends coming and going from dinner.
The Bone Island Grill has fall hours of:
As you can see from the photos you can come by boat to the Bone Island Grill. You can get gas, launch your boat here and there is a convenience store for those things you might have forgotten or run out of when you left home on the boat.
There are sometimes fabulous special events with bands outside to enjoy while you enjoy dinner. They also offer "Picnics on a boat! as well as other catering!
My husband's absolute favorite thing on the menu is the Spicy Green Beans- yummy pan fried green beans in a spicy sweet sauce with applet bacon. I think the applewood bacon is what makes it his favorite. It is fabulous.
Don't they look like they taste good. Just enough crunch and crispness and the spice is just the right amount of heat.
The crumbles of applewood bacon are really thick and crunchy and there are red pepper flacks scattered. I also need to add that this is a HUGE plate.
Someday we will try some of the other appetizers on the menu, maybe!
This is my dinner. I have it every time I go. I'm a creature of habit and when I try something I like I usually stick to that dish at that place.
This is Shrimp and Grits. Fresh shrimp and andouille sausage in a Cajun Sauce over white cheddar cheese grits and as you can see it's served with skillet corn and a big slab of buttered home made cornbread.
It really is fabulous!
This was Donald's dinner. He is more adventurous and usually tries several things on the menu. He also highly recommends their Ribeye.
But this time he had Georgia Surf and Turf Putnam County Style. 1/2 rack of ribs with two pieces of lightly breaded fried cat fish.
As you can see it's served with home cut fries and skillet corn and a big slab of that buttered home made cornbread.
It's a lot of food. Donald had to get a to go plate and that hardly ever happens.
So if you are looking for a quiet out of the way place with great food and are near Lake Sinclair I have to recommend that you take the time to go to Bone Island Grill at Crooked Creek Marina.
They are located at 208 Crooked Creek Drive, Eatonton, GA. You can call ahead at 706-485-9693
If you are visiting the area this is one of those home town places the locals know about that you just MUST give a try. You'll be stuffed.

This weekend Milledgeville Georgia will hold it's 5th Annual Sweetwater Festival. Last year this even drew over 150,000 people to downtown Milledgeville, Georgia. The cost is just $5.00 durning the day and $15 for the evening events. Lots of bands, merchants, food and most of all lots of great times. Hop on over and read the story about Milledgeville celebrating it's past, present and future and the story about the sweet waters of the Oconee River that settled the town of Milledgeville (Previous capital of Georgia) The city is beautiful and now that sweet water of the Oconee River provides a wonderful 15,000+ acre recreational lake built by Georgia Power, Lake Sinclair.
You will see just how beautiful our lake is and want to visit frequently or relocate to this beautiful and thriving community.
This Saturday, October 25th, 2008 is a wonderful opportunity to come and see our community here at Lake Sinclair. You'll be glad you did.

When it comes to fishing tournaments that is! Lake Sinclair and Little River Park are home to several fishing tournaments each year.
This photo was taken of Austin Nix by his fishing partner and grandfather Jerrill Ewing in May of 2005 at one of those many fishing tournaments. Austin and Jerrill still fish a lot.
By clicking on each of the fish you will be directed to web sites with more and specific information about Lake Sinclair Tournaments as well as on-line registration opportunities, hotel and restaurant information as well as prizes for specified tournaments.
If you are not into tournament fishing, but just want to fish for fun or even for dinner you'll be very happy to know that Lake Sinclair as reported by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has no limitations on how often you can eat fish and our lake has been found chemical free. Other Georgia Lakes are in this report as well and Lake Sinclair's report can be found on page 12.
So in the summer you can swim and water ski, but year-round the fishing on Lake Sinclair is fantastic. And if you decide that you really love fishing on Lake Sinclair I'd be happy to help you find your fishing cabin on our little 15,000 acre lake. Call me today!

I'm torn about my allegiance, but I guess I have to go with JMA. After all... my daughter is a 2006 graduate & was the Trojan football team manager for two years. For this years battle of the lake between JMA Trojans and the Gatewood Gators not only are the JMA asking all fans to wear white... but to bring canned goods as well.
This is "THE" huge rivalry of the season. And at the same time both schools are helping out their respective communities. What a great idea. The Gatewood fans canned goods will go to Putnam County food bank and the JMA fans canned goods will go to Milledgeville food bank.
White Out! The JMA football seniors have asked all fans coming to the Gatewood game on Oct 17 to please wear white. In an attempt to "white out" the Gators in this "Battle of the Lake" please do your best to show support to your Trojan football team. Also, senior parents are organizing a motorcade leaving JMA at 6:30pm with a police escort leading the way to Gatewood! Everyone is invited to tailgate at John Milledge's back parking lot beginning 5:30pm. Be sure to bring supplies to decorate your car. Food Drive Gatewood has challenged JMA and our fans to see who could bring the most canned goods to the JMA/Gatewood football game October 17 @ Gatewood.
