Crooked Creek Marina and Bone Island Grill host Lake Sinclair Fireworks and Entertainment for 4th of July

If you live near Lake Sinclair or are visiting this Independence Day you won't want to miss the Crooked Creek Marina / Bone Island Grill fireworks. I've been before, it was fantastic. This looks to be really spectacular this year.

This will be my husband's first 4th of July off work in years. I'm excited that we will be able to attend. The food at Bone Island Grill is great and for the celebration of the 4th of July they will have bands starting at 11:30 a.m.

You can check out their web site and find the schedule. Make special note of the times the boat docks and ramps will be closed before and after the fireworks. To watch on the lake from the boat is just spectacular.

But do be careful and make sure you have proper lights on your boat and a designated driver who is not drinking. Make it a happy and safe day.

Crooked Creek has remodeled and expanded their restaurant and has a new web site. Today I signed up for their newsletter so I can keep informed of special events. Want to know what's going to be happening at Crooked Creek Marina? Check out their web site and sign up yourself.

And if you are looking for a Lake Sinclair home just give me a call and I'll be happy to help you.

If the wind blows you down, just reach for the sky!

My real estate company has agents on vacation, agents with relatives in town, an agent with their wife having had surgery this week. So short staffed feels like an understatement. But I always believe that things work the way they are supposed to for a purpose.

Yesterday, I covered a home inspection appointment for an agent who could not be at work yesterday. I met his buyer clients and the home inspector at the property they have under contract. It's about a 45 minute drive from our office to the other side of Lake Sinclair.

I left in plenty of time, having not been to this house before to give myself time to find it. The home inspector on the other hand, did not leave in time to allow himself time to find it and be on time. He also did not follow the directions. Finally he called about 45 minutes after the scheduled time to say he was lost.

"How do I get to the house?" was the question from the home inspector.

"Where are you?", was my reply.

"I have no idea." was his answer.

So after I laughed for a good 30 seconds, as it turned out, I discovered I wasn't actually talking to the lost home inspector at all. It was someone in their office. So I had to have them call back to the inspector and get a landmark and then I gave directions from there to the home to be inspected.

So What I thought was going to be a few hours in the middle of my day, turned out to be the rest of the day. I had thought to bring a book. I had forgotten to bring my reading glasses, so as the inspection took place I wandered around the property. I found this tree that I decided to get my camera and take a photograph.

You see, this tree was determined to make its way in the world. At some point a long time ago the tree split near the base. One piece broke and fell landing near the water. It obviously didn't like the probable outcome of being broken and took root again at the top that landed at the end of the break. It began again to reach for the sky. It seems very successful now.

My point being, we as agents, brokers and Realtors and in general as people, should be like this tree. If a strong wind blows us off our feet we should not just accept our fate, but fight and reach for the sky. Don't let failure be an option. Don't give up, Don't stop giving effort. Fight for your clients, do more, try again. Reach for the sky.

As it turns out, my afternoon was well spent. I'm glad I was in the right place at the right time. I'm glad I found this tree and I'm happy to be able to share it with you.

I'm also happy to report that upon my prompt receipt of the home inspection it came with this Post Script.

P.S. Again, apologies for the late arrival today - the way back that you suggested was very direct and quick - thanks.

Little Tokyo in Milledgeville, GA. near Lake Sinclair

It's super hard to imagine that I've been eating at this place for over 5 years. It still seems new, fresh and exciting for the rural part of Georgia I live in. The first time I ate there was for my birthday in 2005. On that very first visit, we had Spider-man Peter Parker for our chef.

Peter has kept us coming back time and time again. He's like family and we are not alone in thinking so. The last time we dined there we asked for Peter and were told there was another couple waiting for him as well, so as long as we were just 6 guests it would be fine. We were 5 that night and thankfully had a very short wait.

They do take reservations, but not on Friday and Saturday. We ate there for Abigail's birthday dinner. Peter has always been fond of Abigail and she of him as well. We ate there after my kids had a car wreck in 2005 (September). We hobbled in with Abigail in an arm cast and Colin on crutches with a ankle cast. My parents were there with us that night. Well earlier this month when we are there with my parents and Abigail for her birthday, Peter said, "First time Grandma & Grandpa with you since accident". Now how can he remember that 5 years later with all the people he must see and meet every single week?

And not only did Peter (also a one man band) sing Happy Birthday to Abigail, he also sang you are my sunshine to her and offered to pick up her tab. He also wrote her a Happy Birthday note as well. We love Little Tokyo and we love Peter. Peter is an exceptional chef and a wonderful person.

And as always we all ordered steak and shrimp. On an occasion we venture other places on the menu and try new things, but we seem to always come back to our favorite. Abigail has even inventedher own special "sushi" roll which they make for her. The food is always exceptional and the three of us ate with cocktails included for under $100.

So if you would love to dine at a fabulous little Japanese Steakhouse, I highly recommend Little Tokyo in Milledgeville. 2601 N Columbia St Milledgeville, GA 31061 (478) 452-8886.

I certainly recommend you ask for Peter if he is working.

And if you are looking for lake property, give me a call. I'll be happy to help you.

Here I go, breaking my rule about being political ... AGAIN!

What were they thinking?  Seriously, what are they thinking?  How do you feel about cap and trade?  Did you take the time to write your congressperson?  I did.  I'm fortunate that what he had to say about it about sums up my own feelings and he voted against it.  Did your?  Will paying more taxes help you?  I didn't think so.

The senate still has not passed this irresponsible legistlation so I am urging you to write your Senators NOW.  BEFORE THIS PASSES and is signed into law.  I really didn't think Pelosi was going to pull the wool over our eyes and get this passed, but she did.

WRITE YOUR SENATOR HERE

Also I think you should know how your representative voted and write to them if they voted for this legislation and you disagree with it.

I love what my rep. Paul Broun had to say about it:
