farm show

The 2009 Farm Show aims to show off Pennsylvania’s number one industry – agriculture. This year’s theme – Keeping Pennsylvania Growing – sets the stage for sharing the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for all Pennsylvanians.
From Jan. 10-17, 2009, more than 400,000 people are expected to visit the Farm Show, one of the most celebrated agricultural events in the country. Visitors have the chance to see nearly 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 270 commercial exhibitors. In addition, exhibitors can hope to tap into more than $550,000 in prize money.
The best of Pennsylvania agriculture will be on displayincluding youth livestock shows, educational displays and some of the state’s most delicious foods. New and returning events include the Celebrity Milking Contest, the PA Preferred Best Chef in Pennsylvania Contest and the timeless favorite, the Sheep-to-Shawl competition.

If you have never visited before I highly recommend it. Even if you are a city lover like me you will learn something new and get to eat some tasty food. Kids love this event. They get to sit in tractors, see lots of animals, and may even enjoy a show (pony pull, carriage racing, cattle penning, or kids rodeo just to name a few!).
