Utah County Construction

On a highway that normally goes 65 MPH all Utah Countianians are wondering, how long will this construction madness last? North bound 1-15 has been bumper to bumper almost everyday from Provo to American Fork. This changes a normal 15 minute drive to a overbearing 45 minutes. Southbound 1-15 has not been much better of late. Provo to Spanish Fork has been bumper to bumper as they are trying to close three lanes down to one lane around the rush hour. So what is the forecast for the future? How much longer will the delays continue? Oh the humanity!

Well it turns out that we are in for a whole lot more time than any of us bargained for. The north part of Utah county is undergoing some drastic changes that should improve the flow of traffic on 1-1http://www.i15core.utah.gov/index.php5 in the long run www.udot.utah.gov/mountainviewutcounty/.

The following site is a great place to go to get a heads up on all of the plans for closing roads. For example, I learned on this site that 1-15 will be closed November 13th & 15th between Orem and American Fork. Yes, you heard right. CLOSED! So use State St or other frontage roads to get by those days.

The purpose of this construction does sound like something that will be worth all the madness along the way.

* Add two lanes in both directions from Lehi Main Street to Spanish Fork Main Street

* Extend the express lane in both directions from University Parkway in Orem to Spanish Fork

* Rebuild and reconfigure 10 freeway interchanges and replace 55 aging bridges

* Use 40-year concrete pavement along the entire corridor.
