This past weekend our team was showing first time buyers homes in many of South Charlotte's neighborhoods. We saw mostly bank owned, short sales and foreclosures, but every third house was owner occupied. One of the homes that we saw was a bank owned foreclosure that had my buyers in hysterics. Here is a shot of one of the secondary bedrooms. This is the biggest wall in the room.

I had to agree with them that this would not be my style, but perhaps the previous owner needed to be reminded that after a hard days work that they would eventually get to lounge on the beach for a vacation or something.

It is always fun to encounter such things when showing property because it gives you an opportunity to tell the buyers about other, often worse things you have seen in other homes that are for sale. I told them, as any good agent would that this is cosmetic and that if they love the house, "lets make an offer."

Can it get anymore FALL than this?

A couple weeks back I chaperoned the Kindergarten's class to Aw Shucks Farm. It was a blast for me!

My family has lived in the Union County, NC area for almost 7 years now. We had lived in Charlotte for a couple years before that. My hubby has asked several times over the last few years about wanting to see why the parking lot of Mac's Restaurant was always full of cars.

A couple weeks back my parents invited us to dinner. Since we were ahead of them we just decided to stop in and see what all the fuss was about. The menu was full of seafood, chicken, BBQ and good comfort food. I wish I had just shared a plate with one of the kids. The hush puppies and fish that I had were amazing. The kids loved the chicken and fries. My hubby dined on their pulled BBQ and cole slaw and loved it.

Then there was the dessert menu. The have several flavors of their own homemade ice cream. The flavors change on a daily basis. I think it must have been divine intervention on this night because our family favorites just happened to be the nightly specials. Cookies n Cream and Mint Chocolate Chip. They always have strawberry, vanilla and chocolate of course but these were the special flavors. We got one of each of the special flavors and the kids fought over who was getting the last bite. To make it fair, I took it!

I really don't even know what else to say on this one except, "REALLY?"

I was showing foreclosures in the Charlotte area to a buyer the other day. That always gives me plenty of things to blog and write about. My clients and I were walking around and all of a sudden one of them says, "Are you serious"? Being that we were in a foreclosure that could mean a whole lot of things.

Clothes left in closets, animals, food left in the fridge, broken windows, holes in walls, doors or floors for that matter, or any host of other things. Since we were in the kitchen I just looked up and this was what was hanging from the ceiling. Where what had once been a huge fluorescent light fixture now hung this very small spot light. It looked hideous and the construction was poorly done.

Luckily, these buyers are contractors and can fix this themselves, but I wanted you to see an example of what not to do in your kitchen to replace the huge light that originally was there.
