This is a follow up to my last blog. There is an article in the Wall Street Journal today title The Green House of the Future in which four architects provide illustrations of what Green Homes of the future might look like. The article concludes with all four architects in agreement on one thing (when you see the pictures you will agree it certainly was NOT design..lol) and that is Americans need to learn to live in smaller spaces if we are going to make an impact on the environment.
When I look at the designs I wonder who is going to be able to afford those things. And it might just be me but the homes in the illustrations look HUGE.
Personally, I think think all of their concept homes are trumped by this design:

These homes have been used for centuries and are far less complicated than any of the hair-brain ideas being offered by the futurist architects.
Unfortunately, there aren't any of these available in Fresno. If there were, I would "specialize" in them :). I love 'em.
If you would like to buy some land to build your own home in the Fresno / Clovis area I can help. I also sell the stick-built McMansions that most of us are stuck in ;)

EVERYONE WANTS MORE HOME."
This is a quote from Builder/Author Shay Salomon in this YouTube Video. Watch it! I think you'll like it.
I am at the age and stage where I am pondering down-sizing and have been fascinated by all the possibilities available in Alternative Living.
Over the years our families have grown SMALLER whilst our homes have been built BIGGER. I believe we are more comfortable, albeit less connected.
Was living in a tepee with a warm fire in the center around which the family gathered for meals and fellowship less civilized than living in a McMansion where everyone has their own separate space, complete with television and computer? When you think tepee living - think, NO TAXES.
Are urbanized Americans you know happier than these desert nomads: 6 children 7 adults living in a tent with no electricity or water?
Just some food for thought. I think we in America HAVE to look at our spiritual and material values and do some serious remodeling.

I took this picture last year around this time and I don't believe I shared it here on AR. Its a cousin to my background pic on my profile page. Please feel free to comment. Oh, and if you're interested in purchasing property in the vicinity call me: I have 21+/- acres available for sale.

Here's a brief video describing the property. Price = negotiable. Its not listed. I am the owner.

NOT! I cant post this pic and not comment...lol.
WHADAYATHINK?

...or more importantly --- what was this agent thinking? I can take better pics with my cell phone. If I’m going to buy the house with filthy misquito pond I want to know how its situated in the back yard. Show me its orientation; NOT THE POND SCUM AND TRASH. Is it right out side the back door, like so many pools in Fresno. If I open the back door and step 3 feet out am I going to fall into this? Looking at it in terms of investment I could really care less about what it looks like — what I want to know is WHERE IT IS???? Oh, and if your’e thinking, you can show me where it is and angle your camera so I dont see that puddle full of crap!
Here is another pic from the same listing. Makes you eager to check it out, eh???

Just so you know, the agent who took these pics is VICE PRESIDENT of the brokerage he works for…lmasiao (laffing my skinny irish ass off!)

West Coast haircut. Golden State Clip.
Just how much have home prices been shorn in California?
A LOT!
Believe it or not in 2006 the median price of a home in California was $576,000.
California median home price as of February 09: $247,590
(Source C.A.R.)
Now that’s a haircut!

<<<---- CHART SHOWS MEDIAN PRICE OF CALIFORNIA HOME IN 2006
Homes prices are now entering into BARGAIN TERRITORY, assuming of course that the economy doesn’t go over a cliff. In which case all bets are off.
If you’re thinking of buying a home in the Fresno / Clovis area, call me, I can help.
