Electronics Recycling Day April 25th from 7am to 1pm

WNYT-TV, NewsChannel 13 and Taft Furniture would like to encourage our community to save energy through conservation, innovation and recycling. We believe people will do more if they know more about energy efficiency.

Electronic Recycling Day

WNYT-TV and our sponsors will again be hosting an area-wide Electronics Recycling Day on April 25, 2009, from 7am-1pm at Taft Furniture, 1960 Central Avenue in Colonie. Last year this event processed over 130 tons of recovered equipment, and we expect even more this year!

Driving Directions: Take I-87 to exit number 2W - toward SCHENECTADY, Follow Central Avenue for approximately 3 miles. Taft Furniture is located on the left at 1960 Central Avenue, Colonie.

Acceptable Items; Computers/Laptops, Monitors, Printers, Fax Machines, Network equipment, Cellular Phones, Computer Parts & Components, Keyboards, Mice, Televisions (no consoles), VCR's, Wire & Cable, Modems, and Air Conditioners.

Unacceptable Items; Batteries, Thermostats, Thermometers, Microwave Ovens, Toasters, Hair Dryers, Software - Manuals, Medical Waste, Hazardous Waste.

Town of Clifton Park Senior Express

The Town of Clifton Park provides a weekday Senior Express transportation dispatching service to accommodate and schedule both of the Town Senior Express Vans.

To Reserve a Seat Call: 371-4444

Please make your reservation at least 24 hours in advance, particularly medical appointments (2-6 weeks ahead is ideal).
Switchboard hours: 9am-1pm (M-F)
Van Hours: 8:30am-5pm (M-F)

Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday:

Medical appointments as requested to the following areas:
Schenectady, Albany, Troy, Ballston Spa, Saratoga, Mechanicville, & Latham

Wednesday & Friday:

Clifton Park Shopping and Local appointments.

* Please make your medical appointments early in the day, especially those out of town. No appointments after 3:30PM please!
* Donations are encouraged to help defray the cost of operating the vehicles.

Eligible Riders
- Riders must be 50 years or older and live in Clifton Park.
- A wheelchair lift is available.
- Escort Service for those needing assistance.
- Adult handicapped persons under 50 years of age will be considered on a time available basis.

Two Community Scholarships of $1,000 Each

Two Community Scholarships of $1,000 Each sponsored by the Friends of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library

The Friends of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Libraryis again sponsoring The Friends of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library Community Scholarships. The Friends are awarding two annual scholarships of $1,000 each for students who will be entering the first year at an accredited two or four-year College or University in the fall of 2009. The scholarships will be awarded in each of two categories:

Category I - Only for Students at Shenendehowa High School, and

Category II - Any Students living within the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Library Tax District who are:

  • Attending Shenendehowa High School or
  • Attending another public/private high school or
  • Being home schooled

    Applications may be picked up after January 5 at the:
  • Welcome Desk of the Library or
  • Shenendehowa High School East Counseling Center.

    Application packets must be received on or before

    March 27, 2009

    Green Depot opening store in Albany, NY

    Green Depot, founded in 2005, is a distributor and retailer of environmentally friendly building products and services. They have announced plans to open a store in Albany, NY and sell products that are made from recycled material, local sources, have low toxicity levels, and are energy efficient.
