Hello all, it's been a while since I wrote on Activerain. Been busy stalking modern homes. I will have a lovely home available in two weeks time. Until then, enjoy this image.

Hi all,
I've been a bit busy with listings and whatnot and have neglected my Midmod blogging. For that I apologize. This week, I am going to talk about two wonderful homes. One completely original home in the Glendale foothills, the other on top of the Linda Vista area of Pasadena.
The Cedarhill residence is a classic wall of glass affair with wonderul curves. The dining area faces the street through floor to ceiling glass panes.
Most of the living spaces include original furniture built for this home. In the baths, you will see more great curves, incorporated into the counter tops, and round bath tub installed in the floor. The walls facing the pool area are floor to ceiling glass and round out an amazing example of midcentury modern architecture.

Next up we have an amazing remodeled Cliff May-esque home that sits comfortably atop the Linda Vista area of Pasadena. This is one of the best neighborhoods in southern California and people vie for homes here. This is an area that has experienced little price erosion, unlike most of the US.
The designer/owner of this home did a tremendous job tastefully updating a classic midcentury structure. Over the course of one year, approximately 900 square feet was added in the shape of a master bedroom and stunning bath. All of the materials used are of the finest quality. The floor to ceiling doors, the tile, the bath fixtures, all beautifully done.

Greetings to you all,
I have created short movies of the properties this week. The links are below the commentary for each.

Greetings to all you midmod fans out there. I bring you a spectacular home that sits on an acre of prime La Canada soil. This Eichler inspired modern home has 3 beds/3baths.
Original wall coverings and sunken soaking tubs give this home its Asian inspiration. So many early mid-century architects took their inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright who worked and traveled extensively in Japan.

You can see this inspiration and influence in many local mid-century homes. You enter this home through two massive wooden doors that open into a pleasant open air atrium with aggregate flooring, plantings and a water feature. As you continue, you are greeted by walls of glass on all sides. Travel to your left, you enter the sleeping quarters. To the front, the kitchen and dining area, and to the right the game room, living room and formai dining room.

There is a wood paneled study where the original plans for the house were found. What a treat! The bedrooms have some great (?) shag carpet and built-in cabinetry. What I like most about this home and most mid-century homes, is the communing of inside and out. Each bedroom has sliding doors that allow you access to the rear of the house. Outside each bedroom, there is a screened sitting area so that you can enjoy the gentle breezes, sun, shade and perhaps a good book.

There is a pool, but it is tucked away to the left in this photo. All in all, a remarkable home that has stood the test of time.
Hi gang,
Here are a couple of new listings in Altadena.
The first, brought to us by Cariy Hernandez, is a lovely updated post and beam home with lots of light, bamboo flooring and updated kitchen. This 3 bed/2 bath 1847 foot home sits on 7228 foot lot in the Meadows area of
Altadena. The home is surrounded by a wood fence that provides stylish privacy.
The slate fireplace, clerestory windows and double smokestack fireplace make this house really cool. Combine this with the modernized kitchen, and you have a great house that is tastefully updated while remaining true to the bones of the original home. If you are lucky, you might just see the peacock in the back yard.
Check out the fireplace from the inside.

Master bath, all original.

See the exposed beams and clerestory windows. All of the glass provides great natural light at most times of the day.
