Lee Cunningham - Greenville SC Real Estate

New retail center planned in Taylors on Wade Hampton Blvd.

There's a new retail center in the works in Taylors at the corner of Wade Hampton (hwy 29) and St. Marks Rd, which is more typically known as Greer real estate. The plan includes a 22-acre site at the northeast corner of the intersection and a 16-acre site on the south side of Wade Hampton, next to a recently built strip mall. There will be some green space that buffers Main Street behind the southern site. A department store is already signed as an anchor for the northern site and about half of the retailers coming in will be national chains. Given that the rezoning applications go smoothly, the project should finished by the fall of 2010. Taylors has been a fast growing section of Greenville County between Greenville and Greer, with many new homes being built to the north of Wade Hampton Blvd. Being part of the Greenville metropolitan area, Greer and Taylors have played a big part in home sales Greenville SC.

Classic Restuarant in Greer may close

One of the original entrepreneurs in downtown Greer that help crank up the revitalization process may be shutting its doors in November. Gerards, the upscale restaurant at 102 E. Poinsett is looking to close because owner Gerard Cribbin lost his partner a couple of years ago to cancer. His ex-partner's widow doesn't have much interest in the enterprise, so it may be time for Cribbin to move on. Cribbin does not have plans to leave the area, so keep an eye out for his next venture. The well known restaurant attracted a lot of visitors and was a real stimulus for the downtown Greer Station and Greer real estate. Greer is nearby city to Greenville and is part of the Greenville metropolitan area. The rapid growth over the past few years has had a significant impact on Greenville South Carolina real estate.

Champion Aerospace expands in Pickens County

Pickens County will get a boost in its aeronautical industry when Champion Aerospace LLC adds about 40 new jobs. The expansion is a result of a new product line that produces electrical and general aviation components. The Liberty plant has been around since 1988, and the move speaks well for the technical ability of the work force in the area. The company will receive fee-in-lieu-of-tax incentives as well as assistance from Duke Energy and the ReadySC program. Other specialty manufacturers in the Liberty area include St. Jude Medical and Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Co.

Five Forks Development Plan Passes

A development plan for the Five Forks area of eastern Woodruff Road has passed County Council on a 10-1 vote, and brings to a conclusion more than 18 months of local opposition and input over how the region will develop. Woodruff Road near the I-85 intersection has faced a lot of criticism over its "commercial strip" look and associated traffic count. Five Forks is a growing area further out, and is designated Simpsonville real estate by the fact that it has a Simpsonville address. It has seen significant commercial growth at the Five Forks intersection which acts as a focal point for the surrounding residential area. More than 3,300 residential lots have been approved in the area since 2000, making it one of the most popular and fastest growing areas of Greenville County. According to the Greenville News, surveys generated by the public offered two resounding stances that County Council heard loud and clear. First, more than 90 percent said that Woodruff Road should act as a residential collector street rather than a commercial artery. Second, more than 80 percent said the non-residential uses should have a "neighborhood" feel or be concentrated "community activity centers". The County Council document also limited signs to eight feet tall and required extra buffers around commercial developments. The overwhelming vote gives local residents a lot more confidence that County Council listens to their voice and that development of Greenville SC real estate will follow a path more planned approach.
