Rainbow Falls Trail in Jones Gap SC State Park

Falls - Greenville South Carolina

This weekend we hiked up to Rainbow Falls in Jones Gap State Park. The park is in the Upstate of South Carolina and about 25 miles from Downtown Greenville SC in the northwest corner of the state with the Middle Saluda River running through it.

The rainbow falls trail is a relatively short hike (2 miles one way) up a cool sometimes steep trail to a nice TALL waterfall and watering hole. The first mile is pretty flat along the middle Saluda river, but the second mile starts wandering up the side of the hill to the waterfall taking in some pretty awesome views along the way. Take a lunch and enjoy the falls for awhile after the workout getting there.

Jones Gap is an access point to the scenic Foothills Trail. Caesars Head state park and Jones Gap together make up the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area, which is 11,000 acres of pristine mountain woodlands on the Blue Ridge Escarpment. Jones Gap itself offers 3,346 acres of park, a visitors center, camping, hiking, birding, fishing and programs. Along the way to the park check out the homes in the area and contact us for more information on Greenville south Carolina real estate.

The fair usually has about 175,000 - 220,000 people attend, but this year more are expected. The Greenville-Pickens Speedway's attendance is up about 20-30%. Greenville opens the final schools in a 6 year Project to add new schools

Greenville County is nearing completion on a huge $1.88 Billion construction project which spanned 6 years and built 70 new schools. This year the 68th and 69th schools opened their doors on the first day of the school year. Rudolf Gordon Elementary in Simpsonvillle and Ralph Chandler Middle School in Fork Shoals were the 68th and 69th schools. The district reported saved more then a billion dollars in design and supply costs by building so many schools at once. Typical projects of this size take twenty years instead of the six for Greenville's project.

The final school in the project will be A.J.Whittenburg Elementary, which is expected to open 2010 in downtown Greenville as part of the Salvation Army Kroc Center (which is a whole other story).

Despite all the new schools projected growth for Greenville South Carolina real estate is such that four new schools are planned in the next ten years. If you would like to check out Simpsonville real estate near the new school surf to our website.

Bahamas Native awarded one of the Art Crossing II studios

Art Crossing II Downown Greenville

Downtown Greenville - Art work from area Schools

Art Crossing II has a Bahamas native as a tenant. Marlon Hunt's story is unusual. He moved from the Bahamas after being given the opportunity to lease one of the new studio spaces for artists the city has sponsored. After winning the spot Marlon moved his wife and two children and purchased Simpsonville real estate. His bold lines and hot island colors represent stories, according to Hunt. His "Mother" series of paintings will be on display at the Commerce club in September. The artist community in Greenville helps add tremendous value to Greenville South Carolina Real Estate investments or homes.

Mice on Main Street Greenville South Carolina

The nine bronze Mice on Main that inhabit the area from the Poinsett Hotel to the Hyatt are becoming famous - they have their own book which goes on sale August 23 at the Metropolitan Arts Council. It's written by Linda Kelly and illustrated by local sculptor Zan Wells who created the mice, and weaves a story about how the mice ended up at their respective locations. The Mice on Main have become a favorite search game for kids on foot downtown and was originally conceptualized by Jimmy Ryan of Christ Church Episcopal School as a senior project.
