What I am Reading by Leander McClain
One of the things that I love to do is read. My library has many many books in it. I read for both business and pleasure. I was just walking back into my office with a few books and I decided to share with my blog family.
Stone Cold by David Baldacci (I recently read The Camel Club by Badaccis & it was excellent)
From Publishers Weekly
Starred Review. The modern-day paladins of the Camel Club are back in their third exciting adventure (after 2006's The Collectors). Justice-seekers Milton, Caleb, Reuben and honorary member Alex Ford, a Secret Service agent, are led by feisty Oliver Stone, aka former CIA assassin John Carr. Their associate, Annabelle Conroy, is a slick con artist on the run after stealing $40 million from lunatic casino owner Jerry Bagger, who killed her mother. Oliver's CIA past distracts him from Annabelle's cause: his old unit, Triple 6, was responsible for the death of Raymond Solomon, branded a traitor during the Cold War, and now Solomon's son, DHS security expert Harry Finn, is picking off Triple 6 members. Oliver could be next if Carter Gray, his former boss, reveals that John Carr isn't really dead. Gripping, chilling and full of surprises, Baldacci's latest reveals the anarchy that lurks under the slick facade of corrupted governments. (Nov.)

The Echelon Vendetta by David Stone
From Publishers Weekly
Somebody is killing the former CIA agents who took part in a brilliant but highly illegal top secret operation known as Echelon. A couple of ghosts may also be involved, real or imagined, but they don't interfere with the credibility or the sustained excitement of the pseudonymous Stone's debut thriller. His hero, Micah Dalton, is a "cleaner"-a special operative sent in under cover to make sure no agency dirt gets into the public air. When his friend and colleague, Porter Naumann, is found savagely slaughtered in a Tuscany hotel, Micah tries to find out what happened. Cool and endlessly resourceful, the likable Micah does whatever it takes to clean up the mess. Also memorable are a shrewd Italian policeman, who can tell when something isn't kosher, and Micah's immediate boss, Jack Stallworth, "a short, sharp, bullet-headed hard-nosed razorback hog with all the languid charm of a quick knee to the jaw." The author, who has served in the military and been an intelligence officer, clearly knows his way around the higher levels of official treachery. 75,000 printing. (Feb.)

Business Recommendation
Bill Artz, Big League Floors,
1103 Somerset Ave,
Voorhees, NJ 08043
856-354-2076
Recently, my wife and I ripped up the carpet in my home. We discovered wonderful hardwood floors. Unfortunately, the floors were not covered when the previous owner had the walls painted. In addition, a wall had been removed and hardwood planks were missing.
We called several people to take a look at the job. We met people with various experience and prices. The person that we ultimately chose was Bill Artz of Big League Floors. We could not have chosen a better person to refinish our floors. Bill and his crew was courteous, professional and clean (most dust was limited to the areas that were being refinished). Bill told us the price up front. The final price matched the estimate. He also told us what to expect and how long the job would take. He finished in exactly the time that he said he would.
I have always been told that a picture is worth a thousand words. Take a look at the before and after pictures, then judge for yourself. When we decide to
refinish the rest of our floors, we will only call Bill.
If you live in south jersey or the commuting area and have hardwood floors that need refinishing, give Big League Floors a call. You will not be dissapointed.

Many of you know that I recently moved into a new home. In the midst of moving and renovating the new home, I have come across some skilled trademan who are worth recommending.
The first person I am recommending is my carpet installer. Mr. Donald J. Brooks, Jr is an excellent carpet installer. We were able to purchase carpet at less than retail (through Mr. Brooks contacts). Mr. Brooks removed the old carpet, installed new carpet and stretched carpet that was not being replaced. He was detail oriented and knowledgeable. The thing that I really like about Mr. Brooks is that he is very proud of his work. He takes pride in each and every installation. His price was fair and I was completely satisfied.
If you are looking for an excellent carpet installer, give Donald a call. Tell him that Leander sent you.
