Board of Commissioners Candidate Forum
Tuesday, Oct. 13; 7 pm
Wake Forest Town Hall
The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a candidate forum for the Town Board of Commissioners candidates on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Wake Forest Town Hall. All candidates will be asked the same questions and have an opportunity to respond. Each candidate will also be given the opportunity to make concluding remarks. The Town Board elections will be held on Nov. 3, 2009. The forum is free and open to the general public to attend. Live Green and Clutter Free

A free workshop filled with real-life strategies for reducing clutter and making your home more efficient and healthy will be held in The Factory's Mill Room. Cyndy Ratcliffe, certified professional organizer with Organizing Solutions, Jeff Ammons, President of Live Green, and Morgan Crawford, Program Manager of Live Green, will present a 2-hour program.
Rain Harvesting System Demonstration

The Town of Wake Forest invites you to attend a special Rain Water Harvesting Demonstration on October 15. The short program will explain the Town's newly installed cistern water collection system that allows water to be recycled for a variety of uses by the Town. Yard Sale and Bake Sale to Benefit ChurchNet
Saturday, Oct. 17; 7 am - Noon
ChurchNet Office, 121 Front Str., Wake Forest (across railroad tracks from municipal parking lot)
ChurchNet, a non-profit organization coalition of 15 churches, pools financial resources to area residents who need assistance in paying utility bills. In 2008, ChurchNet spent $46,000 helping 270 families keep their power on. You can help by providing items for the yard sale or by shopping the yard sale/bake sale on Oct. 17. If you have unwanted "treasures" lying around your house that you want to get rid of, please donate them to be sold. Donations will be accepted after 3 pm on Thursday, Oct. 15 and all day on Friday, Oct. 16. We ask that your items be priced and you do not donate any adult clothing or computers. For 30 years Wake Forest Churches, civic groups, and individuals have walked to help fight hunger and poverty locally and around the world. Join us in the effort at the Crop Walk! 25% of the funds collected will be donated to Tri Area Ministries. The canned food collected will be given to the WEB Dubois Community Development Corporation's food pantry. Ed Hardy is not ONLY a local artist but an art instructor as well! He focuses on people and social environments.
His work will be on display that The Cotton Company in historic downtown Wake Forest NC Friday, October 9 - stop by and meet him! There will also be framed canvas works available for purchase.
The Artist Reception and Wine Tasting will be from 6:00pm - 9:00pm.
Right down the street from The Cotton Company you will find Sunflower Studio and Gallery! Another fantabulous artist, Judy Stines, will be having an open reception as well! For an extra special treat at Sunflower Studio and Gallery the will be live music - Mister Felix! They have a versatile mix of originals and familiar cover that are going to appeal to all ages!

Saturday, October 10 brings the always wonderful local Wake Forest NC Farmers Market. This local market is always brimming with fresh produce, homemade jams and jellies and little surprises tucked in here and there! After the Farmer's Market you can head over to the Wake Forest NC Community Tag Sale at The Factory. I blogged about it (of course) and you can read about it here! There will also be a Bake Sale there by the Woman's Club - superb yummies for sure!!!!

Operation Christmas Child Motorcycle Ride

All motorcycles are welcome to join the LifeStyle Ministries Operation Christmas Child Ride. The motorcycle ride is a fundraiser for Samaritans Purse/Operation Christmas Child, an organization that sends shoe boxes filled with toys and other items to underprivileged children around the world for Christmas.
